I've just purchased used 2007 Escalade Ext. The car is in perfect condition, however sometimes it doesn't starts and I have to use jump wires attached to battery with another car's battery. My question is it battery fault, because when I connect the battery to the other car's battery, it take only one second like something switches it on whereas if there's a fault in the battery, it should take some time to get charged. What should I do? Any idea ?
I've recently acquired Cadillac Escallade 2007. It's in perfect condition. I'm facing issue with its electric system. My usage is low.
The car sometimes doesn't start and everything stops. I tried using jump wires and it immediately starts without any effort. If battery is faulty it should take few seconds to get charged from the other battery. Should I replace the battery ???
When you boost it up does run until you turn it off? If so it's the battery... If it runs for a bit then shuts off it's the alternator you should by a voltmeter and read the battery it should be above 12 volts if the battery is good anything lower could be a bad battery if you turn the car on the battery should read above 14 volts if your alternator is working properly, this is really the only way to know which is bad...
Are you questioning that it might not be the battery because of the fact that it starts right away with a jump?
That theory isn't entirely true, for the sheer fact as soon as you attach a set of jumper cables, the car is receiving enough juice to start.
So the problem can be the battery that is in the car. Check the manufactures date on the battery. If it's coded, then find out who makes the battery and contact them with the code. This is you can get an idea on the age of the battery and/or see if it's under warranty.
