Hello all,
I am looking to upgrade the brakes on my 2008 ESV. The only real compliant I have with them is that it seems to take a lot of pedal force to stop the vehicle(more than any other SUV/truck I have previously owned). I am not really interested in doing a complete Willwood upgrade but something to improve the stopping performance over stock. Any suggestions? Anyone else feel this way and made some changes? Please share!
Better rotors and pads will make a noticable difference and you don't have to spend much more than OE parts. EBC USR rotors are excellent, shallow slots so they don't make noise. There are many good pad choices but the ones I have had great service from are Wagner Thermo Quiet Ceramic Pads. Available almost anywhere, don't make dust or noise and wear extremely well. I have used these pads on several Escalades and Pickups and swear by them.
Thanks for the input BDuncan. So, did the set-up you mentioned above help reduce the amount of pedal pressure/effort needed to stop the Escalade(s)? I'm not real interested in doing a caliper conversion because of the high cost...
Better rotors and pads won't directly reduce pedal pressure but will indirectly because the same pressure will provide better braking. End result is still some less pedal pressure needed. As mentioned, braided stainless hoses eliminates the very slight expansion of rubber hoses when under pressure.
I put EBC rotors and pads on my last two platinum Escalade's, these work and stop better than stock, and I also put Goodridge stainless steel lines on, HUGE difference. The brake line part number is #14197 if interested, they say it only fits 2007-2008, but I have had these line on every one of my Escalade's since 2007, they do fit.
R1 Concepts has good rotors and pads as well. I have them in the rear of my Caddy
