No it was at about 70,000 in miles and I didn't try.
I changed the motor mounts. On the dipstick I removed the bolt holding it underneath, removed it and found it to be a clean break. I located a steel sleeve just a little bigger in OD and epoxied it on as a coupling and reinstalled dipstick tube.
Old thread, but keeping it going instead of starting a new one. Mine tube broke too. I got the 13mm nut off, but can’t get the broken section out. Any tips or tricks on getting the broken piece out and the new one in besides shortening it?
It just pulls out of the transmission. It’s in a rubber seal, make sure you replace that too. The new tube comes with one. Installing the new tube is a royal PITA. It takes some finagling to get it lined up.
I conquered it today with a lift. It was next to impossible on the ground. I did end up trimming 1/4 inch off to make it easier. The tube goes in from the bottom. I had success inserting the tube as close to its final position as I could. Inserting it between the trans and the cat made it always come out behind the rear heater hose. I ended up lowering the vehicle 3 or 4 times to pull and place the end. I also cut the zip tie with the foam and reapplied it later.
Oddly enough I called the shop to get some tips and the mechanic said it was next to impossible from the top. But yes, it is possible from the top and without trimming, but I didn’t have the patience/skill for it.
I just completed the transmission dip stick replacement. I was able to remove and install the dip stick without cutting it by removing the bolts for the transmission cross member and lowering the transmission a few inches with a floor jack. This gives you enough room to install the dipstick without cutting it. Installing the dip stick through the back of the engine near the firewall was still very difficult but i found pulling on it from the engine compartment helped.
