Did you see what they did to the Smallblock?

Putting a penny in the carb apparently does nothing.

no .....but i wish they could have done it to something more ....deserveing.....like a KIA...

penny in the carb is a good way to stick a valve , but its hard to get it there...and it has to go just right

In the end the only thing that really "destroyed" the poor motor was Bleach in the oil.

I saw the Deville a while back. It was so sad to see it go. What a cool car. They also shot through the doors as well. I wish that they would have finished it off in a cool way though...maybe some c4 or something? Hahaha

I saw the cememnt mixer just the other night. That was awesome!

Well, they did finally finish it off in a later episode (now a few months old). I think they were trying to test some sort of car crash myth. They hoisted it like a 100ft in the air with a crane, and dropped it right into the ground. For the amount of force it was subjected to when it hit, it actually faired quite well.

That pisses me off. They trashed a Deville, and they trashed a perfectly good 472. I mean come on at least trash a 318 or 305 or something, honestly.

terrible one

I havn't seen them dropping it...I should watch the show more often.

I don't see why the guy wanted to give up his car there wasn't much wrong with it and like dave said that was a good 472 that they killed!

Hey look, we're talking about people in San Francisco here. Does anyone here really want to try and associate logic with the mind set of anyone from SF? :bonkers:

I didn't think so........ :duck:

They went about that all wrong. All they needed was a small bolt out of the bottom of the carb. Once it makes its way past a valve it's all over. Happened to my GTO. The piston shattered and the rod beat the crap out of the cylinder wall and took a chunk out of the block. You could see the imprint of the threads on the cylinder head where the piston compressed it. Never did find the bolt.

JimOUCH! Sorry to hear that.
A neighbor threw a rod in his 67 Camaro SS, 396. It took out the side of his block. A hole you could shove your fist through. I don't know the cause, I suspect it was operator induced based upon his driving habits!

Well, it wasn't my car at the time so it was a good thing. I kept driving by this GTO and noticed that it hadn't moved in a long time. One day I stopped and inquired about it. Guy said the engine was 'blown', didn't know why and didn't know what to do with it. I gladly took the car off his hands.

It was only after disassembling the whole thing and finding a) threads stamped on the head and b) the carb with a bolt missing that I put it all together. I think the problem was that someone had put a Ford carb atop the GM intake manifold and the engine rejected it (much like your body will reject an organ). It wasn't a numbers-matching car anyway so the loss of the block wasn't a big deal.

I put an Edelbrock intake with a Holley carb on it - problem solved.
