View Full Version : Car of the Month??? BUILDINGCTSAMG 11-20-03, 01:23 PM Ok guys so I think weve gotten big enough to start picking a caddy of the month.....I mean we have some really nice car on here.
I'd like it to be a pretty big deal to be put on here as the caddy of the month. It needs to show that uve done a lot to the car, spent a lot of time on it and made it your own.
If you jump over to www.clubb5.com them have a b5 of the month on their homepage and they do it every month and the car of the month writes up what they did and so forth and so on. It's really pretty cool, we could even set up t-shirts for the winners or something if we wanted....(or trophies for people that like showing their car)
Maybe we need to start with coming up with a board to vote on applicants, I was thinking KC, Kat, Myself and El, would defn be interested, anyone else?
Also depending on if we do t-shirts or whatever it may cost a bit of money (prolly no more then $10) the Sandman 11-20-03, 01:42 PM We *are* planning to start a Cadillac of the Month feature here...when the dedicated server is fully optimized and the a stable version of the vB Forum Software is released. You also have to consider those who go with stock look. You look at my car on the outside and the interior it looks BONE stock. Now many people may not see the buety in that. well its a 92 and the int. and ext. is flawless. I clean the inside of my car more times that a high school boy rubs one out. I personally don't like to modify the outside appearance not my thing Stoneage_Caddy 11-20-03, 06:04 PM yup should be a vote , and every month a diffrent era caddy as the caddy of the month ,
jan 1900-1920
feb 1921-1931
mar 1932-1942
apr 1943-1955 (added years for ww2 lack of production)
may 1956-1966
june 1967-1976
july , special cars , miss july in every clander is a hottie , should be the hot caddys in july (cherry allantes ,classics and hotrods like too many toyz rig)
aug 1976-1980
sept 1980-1989
oct 1990-1995
nov 1995-y2k
dec y2k and up
mine could eb a good candidate , very very cherry , but i know of more deserving 1990-1995 caddys
emphasis should also be placed not only ont he caddys quailty but the pictures quality , good backgrounds and good resoultion BUILDINGCTSAMG 11-20-03, 08:06 PM I dont think you should be car of the month for having a clean car, i mean you can take it to a detailer and get it cleaned......it doesnt make it that unique.....that my opinion brougham 11-20-03, 08:11 PM I think that original cars should be included too. I don't always want to see a car with huge 20" rims or other changes like that.
All years should be equally shown, but not specified by month like that. It would suck to have to wait a whole year to see whatever cars you're interested in or to get another chance to have your car a winner. It should switch back and forth- like one month has an older car, next month has a new, then old, then new...
And maybe instead of the same people always voting there could be a page with pictures and everyone can have a couple votes each and vote for whatever ones they like best and the one that wins becomes the winner for an upcoming month. BUILDINGCTSAMG 11-20-03, 09:56 PM I would like for it to be a consistent thing, perhaps when your car gets inducted you can vote??? I am not understanding you guys on the original car issue, i can go buy an original cts, why does it deserve to be inducted into a special group? Now if a cars been rebuilt or is a real old classic then yes it could be included......maybe i dont understand what you guys are saying Stoneage_Caddy 11-21-03, 09:02 AM no , cts is right , no original cars should be allowed , not even the allantes unless there sproting some pimpin mods
sometimes i wish i had a maxed out credit card .....
i just wanted some of the guys who just keep there cars well maintined and dont mess with them to have a chance too , its cadillac.com , not "pimpin_custom_maxed out_card.com"
and yes anyone could go out and buy a 10 year old deville with 120,000 miles on it that litteraly still looks like new , mine in fact only has a couple of mechanical issues , i get so many comments on how "i thought it was a new one"
oh i did put a kenwood head unit in it that plays mp3s , so im not stock anymore , esp with my "Indianapoils motor speedway " decal (75 hp)
I retract my first post in this thread , i can see the stupid fights coming on this one , "but my cars beatter" this will only cause a rift much like the one between FWD and Rear drive on here , pull the plug on this idea ....
edit : BUT WAIT THERES MORE !!!!!
new format :
jan sstealths fleetwood
fed katshots fleetwood
mar sals fleetwood
apr project ls1 cateras ride
may building cts amgs ride
june too many toyz fleetwood
july deville on 20s ride - btu its front drive ..that wont fly
aug escalade with 20s
sept escalade on 20s
oct escalade on 20s
nov escalade on 20s
dec escalade on 20s parked next to 5 fleetwoods and a cts BUILDINGCTSAMG 11-21-03, 12:12 PM No need to get into a fight, its a new ideo and i want everyone to be able to share their opinion....and I do agree if its a rare cadillac and is just well maintained then yeah it defn should be on there......i dont like escalades on 20's and thats the look i went away from on my car.....but the site isnt just about cadillacs it for cadillac enthusiasts.....i think there is a difference the Sandman 11-21-03, 01:17 PM Nothing has been decided yet, but the way I see it either a dedicated COTM Moderator or the entire Admin Team will select the nominees each month. Then the members will vote. And *any* Cadillac will be eligible. BTW it's Cadillac of the Month, *not* Car of the Month. davesdeville 11-22-03, 03:26 PM I think Ultra_slow's fleetwood should be in there. Just my $.02 brougham 11-22-03, 03:38 PM I like Sandman's way of doing it.

I agree! That's one nice car!! Stoneage_Caddy 11-23-03, 12:54 AM yah slows rig is very clean , and from what i read is fairly quick
oh and thankx sandman , was thinkin i was the only guy here who thought that any car would be eligable
cts , im not fighting , just angry of the vibe your putting off , i just want to see everyone have a fair shot , everyone here is proud of there rig , ive been known to be proud of my caddy sometimes too (damn that oil leak)
i for one would care less if my car made it , so im not fighting to get my rig on , ill only have it for another year and then get rid of it for something else (not sure what right now)
just tring to voice that everyone should be equal here BUILDINGCTSAMG 11-23-03, 01:22 AM Stone,
I am not saying your fighting I just wanted to ask why you thought a clean and regular cadillac should be put up on a pedestal? I havent said people arent equal, and everyone does have a fair chance, but why should we make your car car of the month (As a hypothetical example) if elwesso has custom fabricated and used his own time to make it special. You can post your pictures here just like i can, but if we are gonna pick a car it should be something special, not just clean. For each stock car we are cheating someone who has spent time and money......do you see what i am getting at? davesdeville 11-23-03, 03:24 AM I say the members should nominate other members, then whoever's in charge can narrow it down to a couple, then the members can vote for what they like. If they like a stock car, they can vote for it, if they like a modified car they can vote for it. Damn, I have that on my site and i get quite the request response to it. now all i have to do is update the damn thing.
im gone. Stoneage_Caddy 12-04-03, 11:06 AM ahh , didnt see your recent post cts
only reason i like to see the clean examples is that they are slowy becoming rare , to find a mint 85 deville would be something to put up on a pedistal . someone kept it up and kept it nice for longer than your cts has existed ,also meaning theyve put more work in theirs than you have. over time a bone stock clean car is ususly woth more than a modified one (go look at corvettes sometime)
custom cars sould be in here too , no doubt , CUSTOM cars , this doesnt mean a set of wheels and a set of sub woofers bigger than the wheels but someone that has spent massive ammounts of time and money in a car that has a very impressive level of quality (no wireing hackjobs or cheap ass foglights)
as for my hpyotheitcal ride , no i dont expct it to be there if s more deserving quaity custom is around , clean 94s are a little harder to find but there are still plenty out there , i basicly fall under the "dime a dozen" category for now .
like i think ive said before , ive got nothing against customs , my last car was getting to be a real big deal , at the time of its demise there was $5500 in parts in my closet to turn it into a turbo G20 useing only facotry parts sourced from japan australia and other countrys to turn the g20 into what it should have been , the stereo system was built up with weight savings in mind along with other bits of the car , to loose it a week before teardown for the turbo was a nasty experence and i hope you never have to experence the loss of time and money when something as simple as hitting ice occurs | |
