Hey all.
I may be getting a 1999 Deville in the near future.

Has about 83000 miles.
Needs stabilizer bar links, brake rotors and pads.

Other than that is in very nice condition...
oh and the usual dash vent heat warping as well (but a little glue will fix that I suppose.)

Was wondering if anyone has any tips, stories, warnings, etc... about this model year Deville.
Anything that has been known to have problems, recalls, etc..., things to look for...

Thanx!

Well, it's a good car. Things to watch out for:

1. Water pump - dies in 5-6yrs/60-80k miles or so. Had it replaced in both my 99 deville and dad's 99 deville early this year.

2. Recall: front passanger airbag

3. Sway bar bushings/stab links - die pretty damn quick with aggressive driving.

4. Spark plugs & wire set - probably due for a replacement. You might as well do a full tune up which I just did last week. Fuel filter, pcv filter, air filter, sparks & wires, replaced dexcool coolent.

That's the common problems I had with both of our cars. They're both great cars, easily the best quality cadillacs we've owned for the past 20 yrs.

Thanx.

I'm now looking at a much nicer 1998 Deville... 64k miles, dark green exterior, biege interior... what do ya think of it:

I have had my 99 DeVille for 6 months now. Very happy with it. It was a creampuff and all I do is wash it, fuel it and change the oil when the car asks for an oil change. It's such a nice car I figure it deserves an oil change when it asks for one.

Congrats on the 98 deville. And nice color choice... Polo Green. I truly wish Cadillac kept that color... sigh...

I just bought a '99 Deville Concours from Hopkins Motor Company, Lake City, FL on July 25th, 2005. I love it! It runs great and you'd be hard pressed to locate any faults with it. I'm the third owner. This vehicle was put together in January 1999 and the first owner bought it in Pennsylvania on my 45th birthday that summer. He paid over 42 grand for it. The second owner traded it in to Hopkins on a '05 Caddy. When I took delivery the mileage was 55,378. It's fixin' to turn over to 57K within the next fifty miles or so. My total cost will be approx., $13,000 when all is said and done. I believe this car will end up "outliving" me. LoL...
