Another problem with my 95 deville guys,i have noticed that the air condition shuts off by itself while im driving, then turns back on by itself, its stays on hi or lo wherever setting i have it on,just no air will come out of the vents,i think the compressor shuts off to....usually happens after i turn the car on,then after a while it stay on without shutting off....has anybody else had this problems....would appreciate ur help..thanks

You need to verify if the compressor is shutting down as well as the blower. I think that will make a difference in where you go from there. It may be just a blower motor if the compressor is still running. If not, then it may be more involved as the entire system is shutting down.

Yeah ur right ranger,i had not thought about that,i think its just the blower that shuts off....next time it shuts off,i'll verify that...thanks

Maybe it is easier on the 4.9.

ok guys,my motor blower finally gave out,im thinking its the motor blower itself,i get no codes what so ever,iv'e been reading that to install a new motor blower u have to drop the engine a little bit to fit in the new design blower in,ok,now if i get a motor blower from another caddy, with the same design as the original one, would i still have to drop the engine or no,also would the dealer motor blower be of the original design or the new design, cause i know that the ones selling at the auto parts are the new design..thanks guys

If you read my post, you don't have to "drop" the motor, just tilt it. Not too hard. If you get one of the same design, you can remove the inertial plate on the front, pull the armeture, install and reassemble (just the opposite of removel) and you'll have enough clearance. Remember, I am talking about a Northstar, not a 4.9. I don't know if there is more or less clearance on the 4.9. Had one but never had to change the blower. The reason that they where redesigned is that the original ones where subject to burning out from EMI so you may have to do it again. Be sure to keep the plug wires away from it.

That is the original. Remove the three bolts in the center and that big black heavy "inertial plate" comes off. You'll notice it is about 1" thick. That will give you extra clearance.

just finished installing the blower motor on my deville, and the air condition is all good now, thanks to all who helped..by the way,no tilting of the engine was required, when i remove my old blower motor,.i took off the three bolts u said ranger and removed the inertial plate,as i was pulling the other part of the blower out,the other part where the connector is came off,i said what the heck its the old one anyway,i looked carefully it just goes instered in the motor itself,so i pulled that off the new one and also removed the inertial plate and right in it went, just be careful not to drop the motor itself in the hole,it will be kinda hard to get out, so actually i took it apart in three sections, first the inertial plate then that other part where the connector goes, and the motor itself,so i inserted the motor by itself then inserted the part where the connector is,which is kinda tricky,u just gotta align it right, theres only one way it goes in, so not to hard, then the last part which is the inertial plate, and thats it...hopes it helps somebody else...thanks

I don't know where you got the replacement blower, but that is the old design. That is why you got off so easy. The new design is one piece so you cannot disassemble it and there is not enough clearance to install it without tilting the motor an inch or two. Now keep the plug wires away from the blower motor as much as possible.
