General Motors will start building a Europe-ready version of the Hummer H3 at its factory in Struandale, South Africa in late 2006. (http://europe.autonews.com/article.cms?articleId=56388)
Kroymans is starting to sell American-made Hummer H2s and H3s in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
But Hummers now available do not have European type approval, and are being homologated on an individual basis.
In addition, the Emil Frey dealer group sells Hummers in Switz-erland and the Berger dealer group is sells them in Spain.
American-built H3s are offered with a Vortec 3.5-liter, inline five-cylinder engine producing 220hp. These vehicles come from a California GM dealer, International Fleet Sales.
Once the South African Hummers become available for export, they will also get a diesel engine and right-hand drive.
So if they are made in South Africa, are they still American? :)
