First off, hello, im new to this site.

Ok i drive an 87 fleetwood brougham. Here are the issues im having. After browsing thread after thread, i think ive narrowed it down. After driving a little bit and everything heats up to temp, the trans will sometimes surge, stop and go, and sometimes the car stalls. I pull over, starts up fine, runs like a raped ape, but once i put it in gear and begin to take off, it surges some more and sometimes stalls out. After looking around here, i think it has something to do with the tcc sticking on after everything heats up. Even after it stalls and i try to drive in 1st or 2nd, it does the same thing.

im new to cadillacs also, how can i check the codes, if there is a way. And how do i disconnect the tcc to check for other symptoms.

Couple more things. Is there a search toolbar somewhere on these forums? and is there any sites with wiring/vacuum diagrams available?

Thanks in advance
Tyler

Welcome! This is the very finest Caddilac support/information site on the web, I promise.

There is a search feature, yes. Actually, there are two ways to search. One allows you to search the entire site, the other searches whatever forum you happen to be in at the time. Just look toward the top of the page, above the title and to the right, some text says, "Search." That'll search the whole site, because you're currently in a thread. (If you back out of this thread to the main list of topics, both search features will appear on the main toolbar, above the main title.) Below the title, to the right, is "Search this Thread." Search the Brougham forum for pulling codes.

If you have the 307, you'll need a paperclip.

If you have the HT4100 (I THINK they still used those on the '87s, not sure) you'll use the climate control system. You'll find detailed instructions on the site.

Having trouble finding the search functions or answers you need? Let us know, we'll help you out. We're all quite friendly here.

Just replace it. It's like a $20 part and it probably wouldn't hurt to change your tranny fluid and filter if you're having tranny problems anyway. I replaced mine and the thing shifts like I'm riding on a cloud now.

I agree. Replacing the part may or may not be within your scope of ability, I don't know. It's a very common problem for us and I had mine replaced at a transmission shop for like $45 or something. The fluid drain and replacement will cost more, of couse.

If you're a do-it-yourselfer, you can find what you need on here.

Yeah, I wanna disconnect my TCC, too, to try to find out if that's the cause of my problem. I can't see which wire is which under the dash so I'm hoping someone can tell me which one I'm supposed to disconnect. I have an after market alarm, there are wires galore all over the place and finding some attached to the brake pedal is daunting. Any hints?
