Take the pump out and remove the internals and put it back in to keep the same belt. You can remove the hoses and lines from the manifolds and plug them with pipe fittings. However, you will want to remove your cat as you may end up with more unburnt fuel in the exhaust. The upside is that you won't be drawing power off the crank-pulley to run the belt and exhaust temps will be cooler. NODIH can add more! :) Brian N0DIH 08-23-05, 06:01 PM ECM won't know the difference. It doesn't have the processing power to check for it. Been there done that. I removed the AIR pump on my 307 when I dropped in a 350 Olds, stock ECM and it never knew.... I wasn't gonna drill my heads for those air manifolds to be bolted in, so I said screw it . I always suspected it ran a little rich after that though, I figured as the O2 sensor was counting on some of the O2 that it saw was from the AIR pump, which was not anymore. But it didn't hurt and never a check engine light. pimpin88 08-24-05, 09:40 PM what can i plug the holes in the heads with. and then do all the vacuum lines also need to be plugged? its not going to be my daily driver any more. too much for gas. so im spending some time tearing some stuff down and cleaning and rebuilding 90Brougham350 08-24-05, 10:22 PM You can plug the holes with any sort of threaded plug. 20 thread count. The only thing you should leave should be the pump. Or, ditch the pump and get a smaller belt. Brian terrible one 08-24-05, 10:49 PM Yeah if the pump is one of the problems with being in the way, as broughham350 said, you can ditch it and just run a smaller belt. pimpin88 08-25-05, 04:22 PM why would i need a smaller belt? it doesnt run anything else beside the pump. does it? 90Brougham350 08-25-05, 06:18 PM Duh! Smack (hitting myself in the side of the head)! You have v-groove belts, correct? Now that the 85 is gone I'm used to a serpentine. By all means, if there is only one belt solely for running the pump, take the whole darn thing off! Brian terrible one 08-25-05, 08:29 PM Hahahaha I was thinking the same thing I didn't know it had its own belt! Haha yeah just take it all off. | |
