| View Full Version : Short shifter for 6 speed DeVillish 08-21-05, 12:59 PM I've been thinking about upgrades for my CTS and does anyone know of a short shifter for our 6 speed? newton 08-21-05, 01:28 PM havent heard of one as of yet, the bmr is for the tremec 6 speed in the V's. i dont think theres enough of us yet for anyone to begin fabrication suchnsuch 08-22-05, 01:35 PM I've been asking about the same thing, and have found nothing. I cars past I've been able to modify parts from a similar shifter (same Co) but I cant seem to find another car that Aisin builds a 6spd for. Devil_concours 08-22-05, 01:38 PM According to aisin http://www.aisin-ai.co.jp/english/products/fr.html here are the list of applications Toyota Motor Corporation Land Cruiser Prado Tundra Tacoma General Motors Cadillac CTS Holden Commodore suchnsuch 08-22-05, 04:31 PM Thanks for that link. I looked a bit for short shift kits for some of the other vehicles, but didn't find anything. I'll look more later, seems like there must be something. DeVillish 08-23-05, 09:17 PM i found this... http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/w/short-shifter/Cadillac-CTS.asp But iam 99% sure thats for the 5 speed and not the 6. Nothing for the 6 speed, i would think there would be somthing for the Holden Commodore but then i dont know if we could get that in the US. And i dont think one for the toyota trucks would work in a car. Oversized CTS 08-23-05, 10:55 PM This was the only thing I could find for the commodore (really quick search) http://www.jhp.com.au/short_shift.php I thought the commodore used a T56 Tremec, but I could be way off here http://www.bartomeli.net/cts/ctssig.jpg Devil_concours 08-23-05, 11:00 PM This was the only thing I could find for the commodore (really quick search) http://www.jhp.com.au/short_shift.php I thought the commodore used a T56 Tremec, but I could be way off here http://www.bartomeli.net/cts/ctssig.jpg v8 model uses the t56 tremec and 3.6l v6(same global v6) uses aisin 6 speed. suchnsuch 08-24-05, 08:20 AM This was the only thing I could find for the commodore (really quick search) http://www.jhp.com.au/short_shift.php I thought the commodore used a T56 Tremec, but I could be way off here That looks like the HSV Monaro/GTO short shift. I was looking at that site when I was thinking of getting a GTO. The Commodore is probably our best bet for a short shifter. The search continues...... DeVillish 08-30-05, 03:54 PM So far i havnt had any luck. Seems that B&M makes a shifter for the older 5 speed. I might try to get ahold of them to see if they have anything in thw works for our 6 speed. I did learn that the Commador SV6 is the model that has our trany in it. suchnsuch 08-30-05, 04:26 PM I've bought shifters from these guys before, and they were beautiful quality. I asked them about any plans for our 6-spd, here's all I heard back: "Hi, Thanks for the info, I've scheduled to look in to the possibility of producing this shifter at our next production meeting. Kevin TWM Performance" Not sure when that would be? DeVillish 08-30-05, 04:30 PM TWM, who are they? Never heard of them. B&M makes shifters for tons of cars and they are great parts for little cash so i hope they'll make one for us. Devil_concours 08-30-05, 04:58 PM did you try contacting uuc? DeVillish 08-30-05, 05:22 PM ooooh yeah, good idea. Do you have a link to their site by chance? I'd rather email them if i can, cause calling from here is a real pain, damn time differance lol Ok, found the site, http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_product/ they only list a phone number though so maybe tomarrow i'll see about calling. CTSV_510 08-21-08, 10:31 AM I'm pretty sure the B&M shifter that I have works for both CTS-V and CTS. There are a couple different pieces included in the kit that specify that they're only for when you're installing in a CTS. I tossed them and just used the V pieces. atlanticspeed.com has them. You might want to just call or email them first to confirm. suchnsuch 08-21-08, 10:37 AM Well, it looks like the 2008's have a shorter throw shifter, not sure how much shorter, but I guess its the only option I've seen, to but a new shift link for a 2008. Probably a bit costly, but if it were truely a short shift it may be worth it. If I just new what it looked like I could make one now, it think. I don't know if its just a post, or some sort of linkage? Here's a link: http://myautoworld.com/auto/gm/cadillac-08-cts/cadillac-08-cts.html mrc00l88 08-23-08, 09:31 PM interested in this as well. mrc00l88 09-01-08, 01:24 PM I contacted atlantic speed and they said their short shifter fits the V and regular CTS.
