I have a 2006 CTS brochure and it refers to the navigation system as "7 touch screen". I download the 2005 CTS Navigational manual from cadillacfaq.com only because they did not show a 2006 manual. Reading the manual, it does not say anything about touching the screen for choices.

Is the 2006 CTS Navigational system new and different from the 2005?

Is the 2005 touch screen?

Is the 2006 touch screen?

There is no touchscreen on my 2006. The soft-keys and hard-keys are the same in 2005 and 2006. 2005 (post production date of late January, 2005) and 2006 models include the xm-traffic option. Hope this helps.

It is not a touch screen, but you must touch the buttons on the side of the screen.

Lack of a touch screen is a good thing (IMHO). Sure, a display (sans buttons) looks cleaner aesthetically but who wants fingerprints all over the sides of their display? Both the Corvette and XLR share the same GM touch screen, and both have --you guessed it: fingerprints to contend with. I like my display just like it is.
