Has anyone thought about a way to make the mirrors auto tilt on reverse like the lux package? I wonder what causes them to do it, since the motor is already there, I wonder where the software/controls are?

You have to somehow link the communication from the transmission to the mirrors. It would be good for parallel parking. RobertCTS 08-20-05, 08:17 AM The electric Euro folding mirrors would be cool too:p Mbai2 08-20-05, 08:22 AM Has anyone thought about a way to make the mirrors auto tilt on reverse like the lux package? If you transplant the modules from a CTS with this feature, it should carry over to your CTS. I can't remember which one it is right now though... nbtesq 08-20-05, 10:30 AM It probably seems complicated. You have to somehow link the communication from the transmission to the mirrors. It would be good for parallel parking. You would think so but it is unpractical. When I first got my Caddy, I used that feature but 1) it is slow; 2) if you parallel park in a tight spot (happens often here in Chicago) each time you put back in Drive the mirror tries to go back and then you put in Reverse and then you have to wait... it can actually be irritating. Not worth it really... I think the time and money is best spent if one were to install parking distance sensors. jteolis 08-20-05, 06:00 PM I love my tilt down mirror, its very handy! tomm 08-20-05, 06:20 PM I found it very annoying and I turned the feature off the first day I bought the car and have never used it since. Michael 514 08-20-05, 06:45 PM I LOVE the tilt down mirror. As a matter of fact, when I first test drove the CTS, it impressed the pants off of me! I only wish my driver side mirror did the same thing, because I park the CTS in the left side of my driveway. (Garage is reserved for my Trans Am and her Jeep) jteolis 08-20-05, 09:19 PM The beauty part is you can activate or disable it--however you like!! Krank 08-21-05, 01:24 AM I think this feature is great. But only when you can choose which mirror it does it on, left or right. Doing it on both sides wouldn't be such a great idea. But if you could choose which side, then that fixes your problem Mike. I don't have this on my CTS so I don't know if you can choose or not, but most cars that have this feature will let you. Yes on the CTS, it depends on which mirror you select on the switch. AsAkAs 08-21-05, 02:44 AM I LOVE the tilt down mirror. Or mini-cams  BozzMan 08-21-05, 10:16 AM if the parking space is that tight - i don't park in it! atxboost 08-21-05, 12:32 PM how do you select the driver's mirror? i can only get it to do it for the passenger window. AsAkAs 08-21-05, 12:34 PM how do you select the driver's mirror? i can only get it to do it for the passenger window. As if you were going to manually adjust the mirror, using the mirror selector? jteolis 08-21-05, 01:28 PM I thought it was only for the right hand mirror? Does the left hand mirror tilt down as well???? RobertCTS 08-21-05, 01:43 PM I think the intent was parallel parking. The mirror would tilt done so you could see the curb. :yup: I can't see a practical use on the driver's side. I would be surprised if the driver's tilts down.:hmm: AsAkAs 08-21-05, 01:49 PM I think the intent was parallel parking. To me, the tilting mirror is laughable. Somehow the whole system sinks to the lowest common denominator. It's for our wives.:D We're trying to save our rims from curb rash.:yup: OldRoadDawg 08-21-05, 03:13 PM Koz..it's not for us! Some sweet old lady put me into a curb this morning. :gun2::gun2::banghead: RobertCTS 08-21-05, 03:39 PM Bob, speaking of curb rash, got any sources for a replacement factory 17" polished wheel? Better not be talking about your wife! Of course Ebay is your best bet. You probably could do some cosmetic repair to that wheel. How particular are you?:hmm: J.E.T. 08-21-05, 04:29 PM Personally I don't care for this feature.........pain in the arse. JET dkozloski 08-21-05, 07:23 PM RobertCTS, Now I know you're lying. Curb rash doesn't come from females parking. Curb rash comes right after a half gassed male hollers "Watch This Guys!!". RobertCTS 08-21-05, 07:59 PM RobertCTS, Now I know you're lying. Bob, the sweet old lady was a touch of cynicism :cynic: on my part for the octogenarian wheeling her Taurus this morning like it was 70 ft of semi. I had to zag when she zigged to avoid her taking out the right side and just clipped a curb with the LF wheel. :shocked2: And yes Bob, I'm very particular about curb rash, as in it is unacceptable. So I'm looking for a replacement wheel. :ill: | |
