Has anyone thought about a way to make the mirrors auto tilt on reverse like the lux package? I wonder what causes them to do it, since the motor is already there, I wonder where the software/controls are?

It probably seems complicated. You have to somehow link the communication from the transmission to the mirrors. It would be good for parallel parking.

The electric Euro folding mirrors would be cool too:p

It's in one of the door modules. If you transplant the modules from a CTS with this feature, it should carry over to your CTS. I can't remember which one it is right now though...

You would think so but it is unpractical. When I first got my Caddy, I used that feature but 1) it is slow; 2) if you parallel park in a tight spot (happens often here in Chicago) each time you put back in Drive the mirror tries to go back and then you put in Reverse and then you have to wait... it can actually be irritating.

Not worth it really...

I think the time and money is best spent if one were to install parking distance sensors.

I love my tilt down mirror, its very handy!

I found it very annoying and I turned the feature off the first day I bought the car and have never used it since.

I only wish my driver side mirror did the same thing, because I park the CTS in the left side of my driveway.

The beauty part is you can activate or disable it--however you like!!

I think this feature is great. But only when you can choose which mirror it does it on, left or right. Doing it on both sides wouldn't be such a great idea. But if you could choose which side, then that fixes your problem Mike. I don't have this on my CTS so I don't know if you can choose or not, but most cars that have this feature will let you.

Yes on the CTS, it depends on which mirror you select on the switch.

Try selecting the left mirror :)

I think the intent was parallel parking. The mirror would tilt done so you could see the curb. :yup: I can't see a practical use on the driver's side. I would be surprised if the driver's tilts down.:hmm:

Why not get someone who knows how to drive, show you how to park the car. To me, the tilting mirror is laughable. Somehow the whole system sinks to the lowest common denominator.

I really didn't mean to hijack this thread :hide:, and I agree with koz. If you don't know where the curb is, go find a big parking lot.

Bob, the sweet old lady was a touch of cynicism :cynic: on my part for the octogenarian wheeling her Taurus this morning like it was 70 ft of semi. I had to zag when she zigged to avoid her taking out the right side and just clipped a curb with the LF wheel. :shocked2: And yes Bob, I'm very particular about curb rash, as in it is unacceptable. So I'm looking for a replacement wheel. :ill:
