I just got my 3,000 mi. oil change at the dealership, and it cost $70, as they used Mobil 1 oil. Is this normal? I know 'luxury' car oil changes cost more, but was just wondering.

My next question is, should I rely on the oil life meter for my next oil change?

Thanks.

$70 is normal at the dealership. You can do it yourself for $25. It's an easy DIY. The filter is on TOP of the engine.

Yes

I see the got you already with the 3000 mile fear factor.

Did you know that back in 1975 when Mobil 1 came out they were guaranteeing if for 25,000 miles or 1 year. But they backed down from that after pressure from other oil companies and auto companies.

I am planning to get my first oil change at 7500 miles or if the DIC tells me sooner. I will probably do it myself to save the few bucks. Which Mobil 1 is in our cars... 5W30, 10W30 Etc.?

I forget, but I know it's right on the cap, says mobile 1 and lists the type on it. Just pop the hood.

Edit: Oh look, it's right on that picture that Robert Posted lol

Yeah, they did, but I am not going to do it every 3000 miles. Going to trust the oil life indicator unless I hear otherwise.

That price is normal and it also depends on the dealer...I get free oil changes for life (Not sure if it's my life or life of car...:hmm: ......and yes, you should rely on the oil life meter...Because my oil changes are free I usually change a bit more often than required....
