Bought rearview mirror off ebay with the compass (my 1SA didnt have it). Mirror is flawless, no scratches or anything, works perfectly. The best part. $49 Canadian after shipping :) Took 5 minutes to install.

lol. It was only outside because I needed to install the mirror. That Windstar's my winter car. And most likely when I go back to school, I'm storing the CTS and driving the Windstar. My car got hit on campus while parked last term, not bringing it back to school again. The CTS and LS sit in the garage, the 2 Windstars sit outside, unless I'm at work or out, then I move one of the vans inside :)

It was simple. Just disconnect the connector (easy as pie), remove 2 plastic covers (don't break it),then slide the mirror up, and it's out.

For the CTS? I did a quick search and none came up for Cadillac, except some early models. I'll have to search again.

I dont know if you know this but that mirror has to be set to the correct grid to align with magnetic north from your location on the planet...no kidding. It is like a military map where you have the difference between true north and magnetic north. When I got mine I had to set my mirror according to the directions as I live on the east coast and it was set for wherever it was built.

The connector is exactly the same as the non compass one. If you look at the back of your mirror, it's just a snap in connector wiht some pins. My camera's packed away, since I'm flying early tomorrow morning. I will take a pic of the connector on my old mirror with my cell phone, give me a sec.

Yep. You have to select the zone. There are 10 zones you can select from. :)

that's good to hear. I've looked through at least 5 different gm models and they all seem to be the same model

I have a Cobra XRS9700 hardwired to the right of my mirror. This detector also has the compass. The led displays are very close to one another. It's amusing to watch the two. They are not in total agreement:( I think it's the Cobra as I have never done the required setting.

Any thoughts to subscribing to OnStar?

for those bidding, make sure you get a mirror that has the passenger airbag on/off indicator if your regular mirror has it now, the pin connector may be different. This is a newer feature and is not on all onstar mirrors.

If you adjust your mirrors properly it's not needed. Most people have their sideview mirrors in too close so that they can see the sides of the car. That's wrong. You should angle them out further so that as an approaching car leaves your rearview mirror, your side view mirror picks it up.
