View Full Version : 'Another' new V

After perusing this forum and the Cadillacfaq.com website, I've found such a wealth of information that I've decided to pony-up and become a supporting member and start getting involved in the discussions

To start off with, I'm now the proud owner of a '05 Stealth Gray V. After experiencing the dust-factor on previous black vehicles, I went with this lighter color and I'm pleased.

Now, for some questions:

1. Concerning oil changes, when reading the information on the cadillac faq, I noticed this:
5b. Clean off metal shavings from oil drain plug and replace rubber washer (rubber washer cannot be replaced on the V, it is built into the drain plug)
Maybe my reading comprehension skills are not up to par, but does this statement not contradict itself? Do I need to purchase rubber washers for each oil change, or what? :hmm:

2. A magnacharger is in my very near future. I'll be doing a self-install, so I'll need to order the unit. Are you guys ordering direct from Magnacharger, or going through a second party?

3. Also, a Magnaflow Cat-Back System will be ordered in the next few days, but I'm having trouble locating an online dealer who has them in stock. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the wealth of info on this site...

Welcome!

YOU ARE DOOMED!:histeric:

Replace all the drain plugs with magnetic ones.

You can get a deal on the maggie but you gotta shop around.

YOU ARE DOOMED!:histeric: Don't I know it... :sneaky:

Thanks for the welcome.

Nevermind the question above concerning the magnaflow exhaust. I've already contacted a local shop, and it'll be in next week. Was going to install myself, but was given a price of $950 (install included).

Thanks for the welcome.

Some addicts/people don't realize it till it is too late.

The "V" is worse then model airplanes.:histeric:

Replace all the drain plugs with magnetic ones.
What drain plugs don't come with the magnetic ones? I haven't found a regular drain plug yet, but I haven't changed all the fluids.

Welcome!

I've changed mine, and I know some say it's not needed They are ~$1, no big deal either way unless it's starts to weep/leak then change it for sure.

The first few changers thought the washer adhered to the plug and couldn't be changed. Turns out it can be changed. They are only like $1.

Good luck with the rest of the mods.

I had the oil, trans and diff changed to magnetic (I ordered and supplied)
Maybe that is why the mechanic didn't return the oil drain plug cuz it was magnetic already.:hmm: DOH!

The trans wasn't and I don't think the diff is either.

trans not.

The diff and engine oil plugs are magnetic; the transmission is not.

The engine oil plug looks exactly like the one on the GTO and on my Silvy SS. I've never heard of changing the rubber seal on it. Never had a problem with not changing it either.

Seriously, i almst did my maggie install myself. Now i am glad i did not. Since that problem with bearing, they did, excuse me.. are doing it right now, a new swap out at there expense. Now if you like that kind of stuff, & hopefully you never have problem, then you can take it off re send it out to magnason, & wait for new or rebuilt one or fix yours. just going thru this, & magnason is great, they will do all they can and some for you.. just thought i would let you know what when on with me & it is rare anyway that bearing went out, esp that one..

Enjoy, maggie is fun fun fun... it gives me tears 1-3, even when im not crying..lol G's baby, G's.. it pulls em hard...

That, would be a typo.... At one point it was change the rubber, then it was dont change the rubber... I think the standard line is, CHange it if you want to (I will adjust that- thanks!)..

Me, I have not ever changed the rubber, and I dont leak!

I think I'll be in the don't ever change the rubbter group. That sounds wrong... Anyway I got the part number off cadillacfaq.com and I looked on partdirect for the fun of it, $0.68 for a 10 pack of them. Shipping would make it too much to mess with.

Welcome to V-madness! It never stops. By the way, black is much faster. If you had got that you would not need the maggie:) Blows the dust off too! (I wish)

I think I've told you this at least a dozen times now -

NOTHING is worse than model airplanes ;)

revcoman - enjoy the V. Enjoy the maggie. Pay close attention to the rear diff. Swap fluids often. Document whine or noise with the dealer immediately.

Well I have heard of something called GOLF. :histeric:

Golf is cheaper than a V, even when you force your husband to go to Ponte Vedra so he can play the stadium course and others in the area. Even when you pay for his golfing buddy to play too! Poor abused hubby;) .

Welcome to the forum. Speaking from experience, Maggie + exhaust makes a great first mod. If I were to start from scratch today, though, I'd probably start with a UUC shifter and a Stealth V tune!

Has anyone written a faq concerning the UUC shifter install?
