View Full Version : Front Rubber skirt fell off Hey folks,
I took my V in for a windshield replacement and to get the PCM flashed.
After picking up the V, I drove 3 hours to Chico from the bay area (would have been 4 in my other cars ) for an Ultimate tournament, then back home on Sunday. When I get home I see the front rubber skirt under the front cowling has come loose and is now mangled.
The dealer says I ran into something causing this to happen. I find it "funny" that it happens immediately after having the vehicle serviced.
Is there any reason to remove the rubber skirt for a PCM reflash? I wouldn't think so, but who knows.
Does anyone know the part number for this piece? Air Dam (rubber piece) - GM Part# 25716142 List $65.83 GMPD $38.84 +s/h
I think. RobzBLKV 08-18-05, 03:30 PM Happened to all of the e36 BMWs all the time - the skirt is low and it's easy to hit parking stops with it. Eventually, it falls off b/c the scraping pulls at the cheap fasteners until they break. Haven't heard of it happening to a V yet, but the process is probably the same.
Sorry to hear it. On the other hand, it's an easily replaceable part and probably didn't cause any "real" damage to the car, so maybe it's not so bad as car problems go.
Nice s/h charge from GMPD - 2/3 of the cost of the part. *sigh* lawfive 08-18-05, 03:45 PM Hey folks,

:2thumbs: Ultimate :2thumbs: thebigjimsho 08-18-05, 04:44 PM Why would you ever hit any parking stops???:tisk: :2thumbs: Ultimate :2thumbs:
GM should pay me take the car to events like this- talk about interest from one of the tougher to reach marketing groups- the young, upwardmobile, cash heavy, technophiles
everyone, of course, loved the V
took a teammate who happens to be a astrophysicist by education and a DNA analysis software writer by trade back home - set the Valentine up and let er fly
:burn:
needless to say, his miata doesn't quite feel the same anymore heavymetals 08-18-05, 05:41 PM Mine did the same thing and dealer replaced under warranty (thanks PENSKE!) Air Dam (rubber piece) - GM Part# 25716142 List $65.83 GMPD $38.84 +s/h

I think that's right. And yes, a couple of the snap connectors have to come off to access the PCM, right in that area. If they break, the dealer seldom if ever replaces them. I noticed that I was missing about 6 under the car. All dealer broken or lost. Florian 08-18-05, 10:12 PM You dont need to remove the lower rubber to get at the PCM, you do need to remove the lower under engine cover to get there. The rubber and the air cover share some of the same plastic thingys that GM uses to hold panels in place. You would have lost your air cover too if your rubber piece fell off. Not likely done by techs.

Yeah Chris but your dealer really sucks Redline CTS-V 08-18-05, 10:17 PM I wouldn't think that the tech took the lower cover off, the PCM doesn't have to be removed to be flashed... It can be done with a Tech II as a "pass-thru"... Yeah Chris but your dealer really sucks
:thepan: That's right, kick me when I'm down. LOL | |
