Ok, i've been thinking about if i should get the FE4 shocks from a stock V or get the FG2s when i upgrade my base CTS suspension. The FE4s are like 63 a pop for fronts with springs and like 130 a pop for rears with out springs. So iam thinking about 500 for the full kit. But the FG2s are 1200 just for the 4 shocks...then i need springs for about 1600 or so. Are they worth it? Iam not looking to keep the soft ride at all, i wana auto X and maybe go to a few track days one day. Thanks! And yes i know i shoulda just got a V...but i cant afford a 50k car.

DeVillish -
where did you find the part number for the FE4 fronts with springs! I've been looking...
Wildwhl
P.S. - I still have one set of brand new FE4's, with grooves for lowering, Nivomat spacers and brand new rear springs available (don't have any front springs).

Keep an eye on ebay. Plenty of us here have bought new FG2s for just a tad over $500. I don't think it's worth $1200 when there is so much you could do with that money to better your handling.

FG2s are Expensive!
Recently when i had my tsb wheel hop fix done my svc Mng was going over some mods for the V.Corsa,Drilled Brakes and the FG2s.He showed me a recent invoice of the fg2's installed on someones V.Total price installed with laybor was $1950 :suspect: :holycrap:
I had no idea they were that pricy
They should be Awsome for paying that price :suspense:

They are good, mine came with the car. I have driven V's with and without. My opinion is like most things if you spend the same money on aftermarket parts as the factory charges you usually win in the performance catagory. So if you wanted to keep a stock car for warrenty issues etc. they are worth it. For someone like what it seems you are doing with your car, go the aftermarket route. As far as autocross and some track use you will cut your times more from suspension mods than you will from engine mods in my opinion.

bigjim has it right - keep an eye on Ebay.
A killer solution, IMHO?
FG2 and lower a mere .5" (afterall, the wildwhl style is 100% adjustable). Add the Hotchkiss sway bars when available.
AutoX and kill the F1's on the first day - find something less expensive and/or stickier to replace.
Anyway, FG2's and the lowering can be done for <$600 if you watch Ebay.

Hotchkis sway bars are coming out?? If they do custom sizes, I may start playing with a widened rear wheel and a staggered setup.:cloud9:

There are a set of FG2's (PN:12499241) on EBay with an opening bid of $125. Too stiff for my taste, especially on a regular CTS. I'd prefer a set of FE4's though, to match the progressive spring rate of the Eibachs.

HMMM, I thought 12499241 was the FG2's (in the Q&A part of the EBay listing)? If they are FE4's, I may have to bid.

well looking at the picture it appears to have a solid purple band across the shock. this is the stock shock.
all fg2's have a purple/black banded stripe on the sticker that is one way to tell VISUALLY if there fg2's.
