Hey Everyone,
I found that part of my N* overheat problem is seepage from the radiator cap. Its fairly new
about 7 months/7k but it has been subjected to a couple of overheats and also has the vent
lever. I am going to buy a new one tonight without the vent and I was wondering if I should go
with a 17# or stick to a 16. I'm guessing a 16 but I would like to hear the thoughts on this..
thanks Ed

Either will work. Some had 16 and others had 18. That's simply the pressure at which it will vent (safety feature). Normal operating pressure is much lower.

Thanks Ranger, So you don't think the other 2 # will be too much for the system? I want the cap to keep the coolant in but not at the expense of blowing out a heater core or something. Ed

No, I'm sure the system was pressure tested at well over the relief pressure. I'd go with whatever factory spec's are. If it blows and overflows, another 2 lbs is not going to help you. You will still have the same problem and it will need to be addressed.
