View Full Version : 06 DTSs arriveing at rental fleets Stoneage_Caddy 08-11-05, 10:48 PM The very first DTS in the tampa bay area arrived today where i work at cadillac. Its bound for our rental car side , i have the first reservation ....if all goes well tomorrow night a 06 DTS will be in my driveway ....Gladdis is gonna be pissed that she might have to stay at the dealership overnight ...i wanna get some seat time in these new buggers ...i have pics on my camrea phone ...ill bring my real camera tomorrow Stoneage_Caddy 08-11-05, 10:53 PM on a side note , it looks pretty damn good sitting on the ground now that ive touched felt and sat in it ....I like it ! but i will miss the 7 blade 17 inch turbine wheels Lord Cadillac 08-13-05, 01:35 PM You, my friend, are a lucky, lucky dog. :D Boombotz 08-14-05, 10:28 PM Mike,
Have fun tomorrow with the DTS. We want to see pics. Maybe a review. Stoneage_Caddy 08-14-05, 10:49 PM ill work on it , there boath at the body shop getting something done , then ill have my shot at them ..... Lord Cadillac 08-15-05, 09:20 AM Oh, great. They're in for repairs already? :p No, probally not repairs. It's probablly, and correct me if im wrong stoneage, but it's probally some protective coating for the paint, and a few other things the factory puts on them to protect the cars when they are delivered to the dealership. Stoneage_Caddy 08-16-05, 06:36 PM yah ive looked them over and nothing is wrong with them , so i imagine there gtting that nifty teflon dervied coating that gets applied to most GM cars when they arrive , or thats where the dealer chose to hide them untill formal introduction (supposedly its some sort of black tie type party for the ed morse "unveiling"...
doesnt stop me from running my customers down to them to have a look at the 06 caddydaddy 08-16-05, 07:58 PM Are ya gonna trade the '94 in Stoney? Stoneage_Caddy 08-16-05, 08:05 PM i wish i had that kinda money ....
to finish the 94 and buy a used vette LOL caddydaddy 08-16-05, 08:22 PM What more are you doing to the '94? Trying to get it to look as good as mine! :) hehe Stoneage_Caddy 08-16-05, 10:04 PM LOL ...well currently on deck is:
Repinstripeing by "cobra"
Wheel restoreing (get rid of curb rash)
New Exaust (corsa DTS kit hacked up to fit)
Alacantra covered interor bits like the big benz coupe
stereo upgrades
then it will be put on hold till i can get a home of my own , then ill begin a project of putting a 99-03 VW TDI engine in a 79-83 rabbit ...hotrod diesel baby Stoneage_Caddy 08-16-05, 10:05 PM i dont think i ever saw your 94 caddy come to think of it harryctsv 08-16-05, 10:54 PM i dont think i ever saw your 94 caddy come to think of it
Hi, DeVoe in Naples also got his first 06 DTS in, it is for Enterprise-Car-Rental.
It is met red with shale interior, looks good, I like the analog watch alot.
Harry Stoneage_Caddy 08-16-05, 10:58 PM yup im thinking these are the early ones that GM sends to rental fleets to ensure the bugs are worked out , chrysler is famous now for this move when they did it with the "pt crusier"
nice to see your back in florida harry From what I've read there shouldn't be too many bugs to find, but it's a good idea just incase. 'Cause you never know. I actually didnt like the front end at first because Im not used to the stacked head lamps. But its starting to grow on me. And im glad there still going to offer a bench seat, because ive grown up on big bench seat caddys and thats what i like. some pics as promised , looks like i will have it monday for the day , so expect MUCH beatter pics and a full nice review ...my boss snagged it for the weekend on me caddycruiser 08-20-05, 03:19 PM That interior alone looks SO, SO much nicer than the current Deville. And, as expected, in even these quick real-world pics, the outside doesn't look nearly as gangly or awkward as it seemed to in a lot of the GM pics....then again, what vehicle doesn't look bad after their photographers take a swing at it! Stoneage_Caddy 08-20-05, 04:09 PM like i say , expect some really good pics of it next week when i have the car for the day and take it to where its more ...shall we say...appropriate to photograph it
the interior is very nice , a huge step in quailty forward from the past deville which after all the ones i have seen doesnt hold up very well to any age ...
the real shocking interior was in the new saturn Relay , sitting in it and looking around i could swear i was in a VW jetta , which i always thought looked very nice inside , only in the relays case the switches are a very good step forward from VWs stuff mccombie_5 08-20-05, 04:21 PM That interior is NICE
It looks like a 2006 DTS may be making its way into our garage next year.
If my wife likes it. She seems to love her current Deville, and we will be keeping it even when she moves into a new car because we both like it, but we like to keep new cars in the garage too.
Cant wait to see those pics, be sure to take plenty of the interior, and please dont forget about he rear compartment, i have never seen any of your skills, but it seems alot of motoring photographers totally forget about the rear passenger compartment, and that is an area important to my wife and i, two teenage kids..... man that is nice! wish i could afford one of those babies. add that to my list of cars i will be buying in 8-10 years unless Mccombie gets off his lazy ass and does some jobs and loans me some money...:canttalk:. i mean... uh... in 8-10 years when i have saved up enough money to buy an XLR/ XLR V, STS/ STS V, CTS V, 2005 DHS, 06 or 07 DTS, & an SRX. i will also own another Fleetwood, my CTS and some older model Caddies as well. mccombie_5 08-20-05, 05:33 PM man that is nice! wish i could afford one of those babies. add that to my list of cars i will be buying in 8-10 years unless Mccombie gets off his lazy ass and does some jobs and loans me some money...:canttalk:. i mean... uh... in 8-10 years when i have saved up enough money to buy an XLR/ XLR V, STS/ STS V, CTS V, 2005 DHS, 06 or 07 DTS, & an SRX. i will also own another Fleetwood, my CTS and some older model Caddies as well.

Im in between jobs right now, another one on its way mid december being serious now, how many jobs do you do a year on average? big jobs i take it. my dad does contract work for painting buildings and stuff like that in his spare time. he gets pretty good money for it too. i just wish he would go for a big job. he does these little 50k dollar jobs that he ends up getting about 10k out of it. mccombie_5 08-20-05, 07:59 PM being serious now, how many jobs do you do a year on average? big jobs i take it. my dad does contract work for painting buildings and stuff like that in his spare time. he gets pretty good money for it too. i just wish he would go for a big job. he does these little 50k dollar jobs that he ends up getting about 10k out of it.
Right, i usually cover two or three big, commercial jobs a year, they usually bring me between £150k and £200k adding to smaller private jobs that usually fetch about £3-20k and i do maybe four or five of those a year.
My wife also earn a decent wage per year, shes a school headmistress. Right, i usually cover two or three big, commercial jobs a year, they usually bring me between £150k and £200k adding to smaller private jobs that usually fetch about £3-20k and i do maybe four or five of those a year.

Its a very british term i think, dont be sorry its fine, its a source fo comedy for many of our friends "wheres that cane then?" " can i borrow your morterboard?" etc etc mccombie_5 08-20-05, 08:53 PM damn! sorry, i didnt mean to get personal or anything, hope you didnt think that.
Sorry i just realised what you were apologising for, hey, dont worry about that, im quite open about that kind of thing, im just trying to cover my back, im glad its over here in this little viewed forum, because i wouldnt want ot make it like i as rubbing peoples faces in it, i still uphold im VERY lucky to be in the poition i am. hazcaddy 08-21-05, 08:04 PM If we could all get our minds out of the gutter and back to the pictures, what's the feeling about the "jagged" gearshift?
I spent my first 30 yrs with a manual shift in the UK and after coming to North America still find myself using the gears on an automatic box in the mountains, especially to stop "hunting" going uphill and forever riding the brakes going down (burnt a Buick's discs to a crisp doing that in the San Bernardino mtns). So when I rented an STS with the "jagged" gear shift, moving up and down was a real pain in the derriere while criss-crossing CA.
My DHS has a "smooth" shift, and that is a lot easier to use in the hilly / mountainous stuff. Any comments? Any chance Cadillac might move to the "up/down" shifts now found on so many luxury and almost-luxury cars? Stoneage_Caddy 08-22-05, 06:56 PM gentlemen , it is sitting in my driveway .....stay tuned | |
