I've deleted all the cookies, run scans and have no spyware or viruses, I have cable high speed service, but the last few days on the forum have been dragging between screens, etc. It's only the forum it seems.

Anyone else having this problem?? Is it due to high traffic?

Might be the server change. I'm not to sure how it all works for a server change, but Sal might have the sight mirrored or something to do the changeover causing a slight slowdown.

I've been noticing it for at least two weeks. I may have mentioned it somewhere.

I've subconsciously cut down the time I spend here as a result.

I'm just waiting for the "server people" to say, "now!". The server is paid for and we're just waiting for the migration to happen...

Just an FYI on what to expect.. The speed around here is going to increase gradually over the next few days. I'll let you know exactly when to expect this increase in speed.. The increase will not be due to the new server - but it'll be due to the fact that certain pieces of the site will be being relocated to the new server. The forums will be the last piece to go. So, since everything else is going to be somewhere else, the forums will be the ONLY thing remaining on the old server. Remember, we have quite a few pages outside the forums and they get a LOT of traffic. Once these pages are no longer residing on the same server as the forums, things are going to speed up considerably..

The next step will be to close-down the forum for a short period of time - meaning NO POSTING will be allowed (no one will have access to post). Once your ISP (internet service provider) refresheses their cache, you'll find the site open for posting again on the new server. Some ISPs are faster than others. Some people will see nearly no downtime. Others may see up to 24 hours or so.

So first you'll see a gradual increase in speed, then you'll find you've lost access to post new messages or replies, THEN you'll find the site open for business on the new server... Which should be very, very fast... And quite possibly running a new version of our current software...

So no mirrors or anything? I'm not too sure how server transfers work, but can't you always mirror an entire site while doing a transfer? Seriously, I would like to learn more about it
