Is there any way to disconnect the speedo without messing up the trucks performance?

why would you even want to do that?

First, you don't give any clue to what make, model, or year vehicle you drive, which is the biggest obstacle.

Second, what possible legitimate reason do you have for wanting to unplug your speedo? Pleeeeaaase tell me you're not trying to elicit information from these forums to help you commit vehicle odometer fraud!!??

the older body style can be disconnected. very simple matter of fact, you will be able to figure it out if you were to look in the cluster. causes no problems.

for the newer modles it can be done BUT there will be problems with the transmission sensor
