It will depend on a lot of things, lets ask some basic questions to lower the number of software vendors down.

What is your Operating System (Windows XP, Windows 2000, Mac)?
What type of pictures do you have (Digital, scanned, printed, etc)?
What do you want to do with the pictures (Edit them, post only)?

I have an HP laptop (mod 7260) that came with a bundle of software they call HP Photo and Imaging Gallery. Lots of bells and whistles, probably more than I'll ever use. HP also has a free sharing site (30 day limit).

If your computer is reasonalbly new, you may already have something that came bundled. If you have Microsoft Office, Powerpoint can manipulate photo files, as can Media Player, but to a limited extent. If you already tried that (again assuming you're running Windows here), check this out:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?displaylang=en&freeText=photo

Some are free and some cost (Plus! is $20). Check the System Requirements thoroughly before you try. Good luck!

First you select Manage Attachements (see pic one), then you will see a pop up window (see pic two). make sure the pictures are no bigger than 800 x 600 (You will have to learn the imaging tool to find out how to resize the image.

seriously, with windows XP and resizer (I use resizer for the FAQ and EVERYTHING)... you should have no problems.

If you want something beyond that, google bought picassa (http://picasa.google.com/index.html) so you can download that for free...

Photoshop elements comes with lots of stuff (printers, cameras, etc).

For the purposes of this forum though, windows xp viewer and resizer.exe should be all you need.
