If you MANUALLY connect and disconnect the vacuum, can you control the water? Or is it just a bad valve? If it's just a vacuum issue, first make sure you have the RIGHT VALVE in the car. Some were made normally open, and some were made normally closed. They are interchangable on the car. I've seen it before where someone has the wrong valve and it seems like the heater won't work, or won't shut off.
If the valve is right and it's just a vacuum control issue, check the programmer behind the dash, then the control head. I've usually found vacuum leaks, disconnected hoses, improperly connected hoses...... But sometimes it ends up being the programmer or head.

me....The Climate Control will not read out any OBD codes at
all, but Indicators light.........buttons work........and digital
temps raise and lower apparently ok........

He says I have to replace the Climate control first.......Any ideas
on this part of it.........\

thats knid of an expensive part to just be throwing in there to see if it fixed it. Id suggest trying to get more in depth to the problem before throwwing parts at it. I know when I had no heat I thought the thermostat was stuck open, but was the radiator cap

Ok...........Can anyone tell me if the climate control from
an 84 deville would directly interchange with the one from
this 89 Fleetwood............Have sent the 84 to my backyard

I'd definitely check the heater control valve on the engine itself. An '89 Fleetwood should have an Oldsmobile 307 V8, with the heater control valve on the rear of the passenger side cylinder head. Check for vacuum here when the heater is engaged. If you need to remove it, be careful -- the threads are about 1" if I recall correctly.

If you ever want to know what parts interchange with what, check with the local salvage yard, they have a book that shows the interchanges.

I want that book!!!!! I seen my parts guy look up countless things for me in that book. Can we the public get that book?

UPDATE: 11/03/03 - PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A VACUUM
HOSE PINCHED UNDER A BRACKET FOR AC .......GOT VACUUM,
GOT VALVE WORKING PROPERLY........BUT STILL HAVE INTER-
MITTENT COOPERATION FROM CRUISE CONTROL.....

The cruise control is probably unrelated to the heater valve. All I can think of in that regard is there's a thing under the hood that pulls on the throttle when the cruise is engaged. That or the throttle itself might simply need lubricating. Other than that, it could be an issue with the computer. For your sake, I hope it isn't the latter :tongue2: .
