Honda Working On Street V-10

"The next Honda supercar could be powered by a V-10 engine, according to a report in Automotive News. The weekly reported on its Web site yesterday that Honda will put the new V-10 engine in the replacement for the NSX. Last week Honda said it would stop building the current NSX in December, after a 15-year production run. A new car will replace the former supercar, but Honda has not announced when it will be introduced or what it will look like. The News report does quote a Honda official as saying the NSX replacement will arrive in three to four years."

Time to bring back the Camaro allright!!! And supercharge it!!!!!! :suspense:

isnt it part of the "ricer" as you guys call them? OR am I way off?

Civic > Integra > NSX

I donít think an NSX is considered "ricer". I think of them more as a wanna be exotic. I never understood why they put a V-6 in those cars and why the price for those new is $80K. The V-6 engine is what was preventing it from being an exotic. I think with a v-10 motor, and Honda engineering that thing will give the vettes some competition. Also I think what adds to the NSX mystique, is that you don't see them very often. I see several vettes everyday.

It's likely to be successful over there in the States. I don't think that will change any opinions here. Its alot of money to pay for a honda.....when a Porsche or even TVR falls into the same price bracket.

"July 20, 2005

TOKYO -- Honda Motor Co. has long maintained that it wouldn't develop a V-8 production engine.

But it now says it will develop a V-10."

"It's tough to be a V-6 in a V-12 world.

Acura's self-proclaimed supercar, the NSX, will fade into oblivion at year end. The unofficial cause of death: cylinder envy.

Acura blamed the sports car's demise on the extensive retooling that would have been required to meet 2006 emissions and safety regulations in the United States, Europe and Asia.

The bottom line, though, was sales."

I saw a race with an NSX, competing with some full blown exotics, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.... The NSX with it's V-6, was passing the other exotics in the twisties, but once the straight aways came the NSX would get passed.. Watching the NSX out handle the exotics in the twisties was great! I think with a V-10, the nsx will be a force to be reckoned with in the straight aways as well..

I found the vid of the NSX racing.. This video shows the entire race... Enjoy!

Here is the listing of the cars racing.
911 Turbo

4 Laps on a real race track.

If you watch the vid, you should have your answer to if the NSX is considered "ricer"..

Yup I read this last night on Inside Line, was going to post it but we all know theres "some" here who wouldnt quite know how to appreciate it if you know what I mean...

Its actually groundbreaking news in alot of aspects. First of all we have all always dogged Honda for their lack of balls in producing a production V8 engine, so now theyre just gonna go ahead and surpass it altogether with a V10. I suppose however that they are STILL trying to get the message across that you dont need the full set of cylinders some of your competitors may have to achieve or eclipse their power... i.e. 12 Cyl. vehicles. At 6 Cylinders the original NSX actually was a force to be reckoned with for a few years at introduction.... Now it will be interesting to see what the V10 Honda does to both its V8 competition (Ford GT) and the perennial V12 Favorites... Kinda funny when you think the Ford will now be the mainstream exotic with the least cylinders...
