I need a diagram of the layout of the serpentine belt. Front end has had body damage so it is not on the fan shroud. Belt broke so I did not have the chance to draw a picture.
EDIT:

My 98 deville probably could use a new belt.....but I am not looking forward to jamming my hand in tight spots and cutting up my knuckles. Any tips? Ranger 07-21-05, 09:24 PM Is it an easy fix? My 98 deville probably could use a new belt.....but I am not looking forward to jamming my hand in tight spots and cutting up my knuckles. Any tips? I have never tried this but Bbob says to get a lenght of 1/2" copper tubing and flatten the end, then bend it into a small "L" to use to help save your hands and fit into tight places. Sounds like it should work well. dkozloski 07-21-05, 09:34 PM When the belt has cracks in it that are no closer than 1/10 of an inch and it hasn't started to chunk it is at half life and should go another 50,000 miles.. El Dobro 07-22-05, 05:14 PM The only real PITA I've found changing a N* belt was with the tensioner. I just remove it until I'm done. cadillac_hummer_tech 07-22-05, 10:44 PM here is a diagram for you: http://www.greshambike.com/images/1996stsbelt.gif regards WoodShoe 07-24-05, 10:25 PM When I replaced mine, I just tied a piece of rope/string to the belt. As i fed the belt through, every time i needed it to move around a pulley, I just pulled on the rope. I left the tensioner to the end, and simply jammed a tool into one of the openings to release the tention. When I first looked at it, I figured it would be a long and frustrating experiance. Since there is limited room. But it only ended up taking about 15 minutes. rollman 09-29-06, 03:30 PM Thanks for the diagram it sure came in handie today . | |
