View Full Version : Chevy Adds Three More SS Models to 2006 Lineup (Preview) http://macleans.auto123.com/en/info/news/roadtest,view,Chevrolet.spy?artid=44549&pg=1
"it packs a retuned version of the Corvette's LS2 V8 engine. On that note the announcement of the Trailblazer SS is not surprising, being that the reworked Chevrolet SSR, which also utilizes this engine for 2006, is based on the Trailblazer platform, making the tie-up a match made in heaven.
With 390 horsepower, 395 lb-ft of torque and optional road-tuned all-wheel drive, the Trailblazer SS is capable of rushing from standstill to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds, which is fairly impressive for a vehicle of this size."
Still no Camaro though! ShadowLvr400 07-19-05, 06:38 PM The Trailblazer might be good. The Malibu's still suck. $5 says they still give 0 driver feedback on handling. I hated the Malibu Maxx I drove.
I think my Skills 1 instructor said it best... "This is craptastic" I think I agree. Other than the Corvette engined TrailBlazer, Chevy doesn't excite me too much. Well, except the Corvette, that is.
I'll have to testdrive a Cobalt SS just to see what the fuss is all about, but then, isn't it the same poweretrain as the Ion Redline...... I am toying with selling my 2003 Town Car Limited Edition and getting a Trailblazer SS. My dealer has 1 on order with my name on it. I get 1st chance on buying it. It's the kinda vehicle I want now. 4WD, SUV, monester V-8. They also have standard Ram-Air Induction System & ride on 20s. Vehicle is lowered 1.5 inches and has a Corvette suspension. It's a pretty sensational vehicle! Only Baaad part is it only comes in black or silver. Black is always dusty/dirty shows all fingerprints and is eternally dusty. Silver is so "me-too" ~ I want a bright fire red one with the black leather !

Fire engine red would be nice, if I had to choose between black and silver I'm not sure which way I'd turn. As you say black is beautiful when clean but doesn't stay clean for very long at all. Silver is common and attracts less attention from authorities which is helpful when "pushing the legal envelope" (lol) but silvers, golds and other metalic colors are so hard on clear coats, they tend to oxidize too soon if not continuously sheltered. Really? That would be cool. I never knew you liked SUV's. I figured you for the first SRT-8 that came along. Speaking of which, that black SRT-8 that I saw a few weeks ago, it was apparently the FIRST one ever sent to Canada and it was on the lot 2 days before somoene in Quebec bought it and it was trucked and transported immediately!
I guess there are only a few out at this point.
Silver would be nice for that Trailblazer. :sneaky: mccombie_5 07-19-05, 07:42 PM Thats a nice truck.....I'd get the black, my Vectra is silver and has rust spots after only 6 years of existance. I keep it garaged and it still gets worse. Black looks great on trucks....especially that one. And when you think about it, its a truck! Its supposed to be dirty. Even if it never goes off road, they look ok with dirt. evilrussian 07-19-05, 07:44 PM I am toying with selling my 2003 Town Car Limited Edition and getting a Trailblazer SS. Rock on Sandy!
This thing is pretty awesome, kind of GMC Typhoon comeback, only with 4 doors. scourge 07-19-05, 07:57 PM FWD and perfomrnace do not go together due to FWD's inherent design flaw.

Dude!! Welcome back!! :)
A retro El Camino SS MIGHT be an effective tool for fighting the success of Fords' Mustang? Any thoughts? Yes, a Camaro WOULD be better! If you have enough wax on a dark colored vehicle then it will not get that dirty. If you have enough wax on a dark colored vehicle then it will not get that dirty.
Just easier to wash off. :lildevil:
I think it would still show all the dust, etc??? scourge 07-19-05, 11:03 PM I miss my R32 Skyline.:( I'm back in the US for awhile (unless the DoD calls me and I'll go where assigned) and I'm in the market for a new car. Looking into an Allante. Wanted one since high school.
GM doesn't need a retro El Camino. Already have one in Australia and a ZETA platform Camaro should already be in the works. Camaro should not be retro IMO. Retro is a phase that will pass. Just look at the PT Crusier. The Camaro should be about the size of a FD RX7 and be GM's affordable sportscar of the future. Great marketing idea too with Ford's Mustang clinging to the past while Camaro take you into the future....where no one has gone before:D The TrailblazerSS is All Wheel Drive All The Time ! :lildevil:
It's lowered 2" from a stock Trailblazer, rides on 20s 5-Spoke Chromed.
Suspension is special, likewise the frame (chassis). There are Ram-Air
ducts in the front grille and she does have Cold Air Induction.
She has Torsen-Torq Differential and a 4.10 Ratio. Wanna Race ? :bighead:
My (normally funny) bumper sticker will say:
"WE RACE IN SNOW - DO YOU?" "WE RACE IN SNOW - DO YOU?"
But, of course. :drinker | |
