If I was to convert my 70 472 to a 500 what do I need? I think I just need the crankshaft and pistons. Do I need the rods too. Are the 472 connecting rods the same as the 500?
Thanks,
Clayton

You'll need a 500 crank and pistons designed for the 500 crank's longer stroke (less compression height than the 472 pistons). TorqueInc 08-15-05, 03:43 AM Just wondering why you want to change to a 500 ? TI terrible one 08-16-05, 11:03 AM Instead of spending money to convert, why not spend money to soup up the 472? The Ape Man 08-16-05, 03:10 PM Looking at some of the pie in the sky gofast advice seen on the WWW, this might prove more cost effective then a whole lot of schemes. No substitute for C.I. Someone out there has your parts cheap. You just need to find out who. I remember hearing that you have to notch the bottom of the 472 cylinder sleeves to clear the crankshaft counterweights of the 500 crank. Second hand knowledge FWIW. terrible one 08-16-05, 03:51 PM When I look at it that way, I see what you are talking about, Ape. | |
