interesting.
they seem to not want to surpass the C6 in HP for the V. lol
wonder why they choke back the XLR-V so much

That's too bad, I was hoping for at least 460HP in the XLR-V :(

Dave Hill (the corvette engineering guy) said that no GM product will ever surpass the Vette in terms of handling or HP....even though Cadi is the flagship brand... We get the shaft cause Hill is a Vette guy.

He used to be a Caddy guy... I hope he has it in his heart to loan the LS7 to his former division..... LOL.

If the other execs at Cadillac really give a shit about what Dave Hill thinks regarding the power of the Vette, they suck it.

I'd tell him to kiss my ass, and our Cadillac will toast your precious Vette.

How much will the STS-V weigh?

Good question...it seems the 19s might fit since they are also a 6 lug.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

From Bbob:

The STS-V has a very aggressive exhaust and intake system and the room to package the larger version of the oil pan on the engine that reduces windage losses significantly compared to the XLR-V. The HP of the XLR-V Supercharged Northstar is likely to be a bit less...but due to the lighter weight of the XLR-V the performance will certainly not suffer.

I think the XLR-V and STS-V just proved that wrong, and the 04 CTS-V had more HP than the C5, so the CTS-V can be faster than a regular c-6 if they wanted it to be. The STS-V might be able to out accelerate a C-6.

The C6 makes much more down low power than the STS-V will, much smaller engine, though it is supercharged, I doubt will be able to accelerate as quick.

What does the size of the motor have to do with it? A Buick Grand National with a stock 3.8L V-6 ran a better 0-60 than an 86 or 87 Vette, and my slightly modified one had an estimated 1200ft lbs of torque and would run a 0-60 in about 1.3 seconds. It's whats inside the engine, tranny and rear end that determines that, and traditionally supercharged or turbocharged motors have alot of low end torque.
