81 Seville … Need help … Light Malfunction problem …etc. 7-16-05



While driving my 81 Seville with the 8-6-4 engine, the “Check Engine” light came on. ECC display showed Code 25. Inside door courtesy lights would not come on and depressing the brake petal turned on the under dash courtesy lights. Where should I look for the problem with the lights. … Did The variable displacement control cause the light problem, or the light problem cause the variable control problem?

Check for an open fuse. If that doesn't get anywhere then pop the hood and look for loose or oxidized ground connections. Maybe a ground strap was left off during recent work like an alternator or water pump.
Check the connectors that go to the tops of the valve covers and their wiring right back to the big firewall connector.
