Chris: I expected you to fit a plasma display in each wheel well to display an image of whatever wheel fit your mood each day, a la Bill Gates. Along with a THX car-theater to play Corsa, B&B, Bassani, Magnaflow, or whatever exhaust note suits your fancy. Where's the tech, dude? Don't leave it all in the shop!

Ride is only a little bit rougher but barely noticeable. I am kind of rethinking the same size tire all the way around. I think that the fronts fit the wheel well very well but the gap in the rear is a little more than I would prefer. I am wondering if I should go 19x10 with 275/35/19. My other option would be to go with a set of Eibach's which is supposed to lower the front 1.2" and 1.6" in the rear. Not sure what would be better. Any suggestions???

I'm UPSET but then I'm happy you did it first. I wondered what they would look like. I was leaning more towards the black ones though and in 20's. I would go staggered for the look but, if it's your primary mode of transportation and you put miles on the car, keep it like that. NICE! :D

Im around tech all day, the last place I want it in is in my car! :)
Besides I have a hard enough time keeping my eye on the road, imagine the havoc I would cause if I had a plasma on the dash!!!

Thanks Velose! My buddy did get the black ones on his Mustang GT (I know its a shame that I have a friend with a Ford) and they look very clean! I would tend to agree with you though, I think that 20s would fill the wheel wells better and the staggered look would definately be better. I am going to call my buddy tomorrow and ask if he would consider letting me exchange them for at the very least swapping out the rears for the 19x10's with 275/35/19.

VELOSE

First, the V is not a race car. The picture of the V in my avatar is a race car. There's a big difference. It's a high performance car. Two, he might have his own reasons for those rims. Some might not care too much about gaining more performance. Some might decide to go bling instead. Either way, it's his choice, his car, his money, and his decision. Not really up for us to disect and understand, just enjoy. ;)

If you mean fender gap height... 275/35s will not change this.

The last thing I am trying to do is pimp my V. I purchased the V strictly for the performance aspects of the vehicle and nothing else. I needed something with 4 doors and for the money, nothing else could touch it. If I wanted to pimp out my V I would have gotten 22's, and although I liked the stockers, I wanted something that would stand out and that would seperate my V from every other V on the street. I didn't want to spend the money for a 3 piece wheel mainly because if I scratched it, scraped a curb, etc. I would probably freak out. Another problem with the V is that there are very few wheels that will fit it. I thought that the Niche's looked the best for the selection that you have unless you go with a 3 piece wheel.

Wild: I am very interested in what you did with lowering your V. I am eagerly awaiting your write up!

Gags: I like the guys at Dutton but I kind of feel that they are still of the old school Cadillac mentality. I prefer Mark Christopher Cadillac in Ontario. They are a little farther but I think the service that they provide is worth the extra 10 minute drive from home :)

Boombotz: Im getting my windows tinted this week :)

Dreamin: I guess that I just have to accept that the only way to close the fender gap is to lower the V, I just dont want to compromise the handling in any way. Im hoping that when wild perfects his mod, I can follow suit. .75-1" would be perfect. Im OK with the height in the front. Would lowering just the rear affect performance?

wildwhl

Outlaw-

While you could lower the rear alone - I wouldn't recommend it. I would imagine handling would be negatively affected, and it might look funny.

Remember, with the front strut and Nivomat mod (you'll cut your rear springs) you could lower the car as little as .2" and as much as 1.125" all around, or any combination thereof, as long as you figure out the amount to pull from the rear spring. .5" around would be easy...

Personally - I agree with your thinking 100% on how your V looks - but everyone is entitled to their own a$$h...opinion I mean :D

Can you pull the struts and do you have access to a lathe - or know anyone at a machine shop?

Guess I'd better get enough Delrin on hand to actually start selling cheap rear kits :hmm:

Wheels very nice, time to paint rotors...

Is there a technique to that? Or do you just pull them off, mask and paint?

Dammit Wild, get to it so I can be your first customer! :)

I can pull the struts and im sure that my father in law has a lathe. Keep me informed bud on your progress. I am definately interested in your setup.

I painted the rotor hats black because it looked like they didn't turn them over when they painted them silver so I had a rust shadow at the 6 o'clock position. It was always where you could see it when you stopped or wanted good pics. I think it makes the rotors float out from rim and look even bigger. Also I don't like the same as Bimmer silver particularly when they turn black with brake dust. With chrome and a coat of Rejex, a shot of simple green at wash time, poof they are clean.

I used VHT # SP-734 Gloss Black Rotor paint, I think I got it from Summit or Jegís. I took the rotors off used decal/paint remover (NAPA product) wire brushed them. Took them down to metal. I masked the wear surface because I didnít want to contaminate the pads. I also painted down the cooling vents for a finished look. I cooked them under my Propane patio heater for about an hour, let them rest overnight before installing. I have almost 2K miles and look great. I donít suggest painting them on car, take a day and do it right.
