"An all-new 268 horsepower DOHC, four-valve per cylinder 3.5 litre V6 engine (the same one used in the SLK 350 sports car) replaces a 232 hp SOHC, three-valve per cylinder 3.7 litre V6, while the 302 hp SOHC, 3 valve per cylinder 5.0 litre V8 in the ML 500 is a mildly updated version of the previous engine. A 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode replaces the 5-speed automatic.

I'm not so sure. A loaded out SRX has a pretty high sticker as well, they just never sell at that number. I sure wish my Northstar had better city mpg numbers. I find it (the Benz) attractive...however...My Caddy dealership tries (and succeeds) ten times harder supporting my SRX than MB ever did with our previous MB products.

Hey Ralph - What's going on up north? Canada had to import a Russian beauty to win the Miss Universe contest! Is this a chink in the armour? A Canadian babe shortage?:bonkers:

I agree, I don't think that price is everything though. The Benz offers a lot of toys, but I would never trust them for the shoddy electronics issues they have had for a few years now, etc.

LOL, I take it you found THIS link.........

I'm not sure what you mean by importing Russian beauties here to win, as far as I know Venessa is a Canadian citizen from Ontario) but rest assured, no shortage here. ;) :sneaky:

"THE NEW MISS CANADA UNIVERSE is 18-year-old high school student Venessa Fisher of Waterdown, Ontario. Fisher was crowned last Sunday night in Rama, Ontario. For the second time in a row, a blond has won the title, and the youngest ever since 1997. Fifty young women vied for the title, and two were former Miss Earth Canada titleholders - Melanie Bennett (2002) and Brooke Johnston (2003) who made it as one of the 10 semi-finalists. Choreography was provided by Scott Grossman. Visit Jimmy's Pageant Page for more info. What is Venessa like? Well, she likes to dance (her mom is the owner of a dance studio), sing, and hopes to make it big someday in Broadway. She has absolutely no pageant or modeling experience, and she has only a few months to train before going to Ecuador.

Also '06 SRX has lost 5 hp and is now 255hp.
SRX does weigh less than new MB.
I sat in one and all the controls especially the gas pedal are slow to react.
A 275-280hp V6 SRX with the new 6 speed would definitely get my attention.

I have to agree. I think 250-275hp is the magical number for standard size car/suv to satify my desire to not drive an everyday dog and still hopefully get some sort of practical gas mileage and range.

Before I get flamed, I am a flat lander at sea level and realize there are lots of variables such as torque, aerodynamics weight etc. This is just a generalization. My older 180 to 220hp around town rigs just didn't do the job like these newer generation models I've had the opportunity to drive.

Maybe I'm starting to be too sensitive to high fuel prices but I feel the extra hp my Northstar has may not be worth the additional cost/ trade off of a good strong V6. When I drive loaner CTS's w/ the V6 and see the CID fuel numbers it's pretty significant and they still feel pretty lively.

With fuel cost at these levels I wonder if this is going to trigger the end of HP wars similiar to the late 60's early 70's era.

PS. let's just go to the 7 speed while we're at it! Sorry about the drift.

Actually I was refering to some T.V. show I saw. Miss Canada won it. She was/is a dark haired beauty, Canadian citizen...with origins from some East block county I thought.

I think I actually prefer Miss America (GAK  :bulging: :eyebrow: ) over her!

SRX's RULE! (there, sufficient subject matter) :D
