Hey all,
I have sad news. Recently I have been discovering that I need a change in the car that I'm driving, the Caddy is no longer doing it for me. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great car, with abundent amounts of power, but it just isn't the car for me anymore. I have come across a 98 maxima with the 5 speed tranny that seems to really just fit me better. If all goes well it will be mine tomorrow. Does anyone on the board have any reservations about this car, or any opinion at all? I'd like to personally thank you all for the information this site has provided me, as well as the support that can be felt throughout the boards. I will still continue to be a contributing memeber of the boards, even though I no longer own a Cadillac. The car might not be leaving the family however, as I am trying to convince my parents that it's the car for them, which in fact it may be.
Thanks and have a great night.

How is it "not the car for you?" In my household we always run our Cadis till there is nothing left! lol

I can understand if you want something different, or cheaper. Change is very healthy and I wish you well with the Nissan. I can only hope you will be saying "dang that Cadillac was a great car and I should get a new one" in a few years.

Maxima!!??

Personally I think you might regret it, but it's your decision. Glad you got use out of the forum, and feel free to stick around regardless. :)

It's not the car for me because I'd like something a bit sportier with a standard tranny. Also the savings on gas will be nice. I can definatley see another Cadillac in my future, just not at the point and time.

Blah, that Max is gonna be slower even with a manual... talk about a downgrade. The only things I don't like about my car are that it's FWD and an automatic, you obviously don't care about FWD vs RWD... I don't think just a manual is a good enough reason to switch to a slower car that's less nice to ride in and not as classy or distinctive. I could see if you were going to pick up a Camaro, 350Z, Stang, etc, but a Maxima?

Don't knock the Maxima, dave. Plenty of aftermarket for that baby. It was a highly sought-after car a few years ago. It's a lot more powerful than you think.

Good luck, sseville. Don't be a stranger.

At first I couldnt possibly see the logic in going from a Seville to a Maxima... But since its not an STS which has a little more power and a few more goodies I guess I can see that. Still, Maximas sure dont look anywhere near as nice.

Good luck.

I'm not knocking it, but no question it's less nice to ride in and not as classy or distinctive. Since it's not faster either, and the only thing it has in its favor is a manual, I consider it a downgrade.

actually, a maxima of that year and with a manual will run low to mid 15's if i remember correctly, plus it would be nice to have a car that gets low to mid 20s for avg fuel economy also

The Maxima is one sweet car, but its a completely different driving and ownership experience. I hope it works out for you!

I own a 2002 Seville SLS, and the wife owns, a 2002 Infiniti I35. The I35 is the same car as a Maxima. Take my word for it, the Maxima is definitly a downgrade. It may be as fast as the Seville, but lacks in every other catagory. Ride comfort, winner: Cadillac. Seat comfort, winner: Cadillac. Interior space, winner: Cadillac. Looks department, winner: Cadillac. Braking / steering feel and response, winner: Cadillac. Fuel mileage, winner: Maxima. Overall build quality, winner: Cadillac. And I can continue for hours, but you get the point.

Don't get the idea that I am biased, because I am not. I like the I35 / Maxima. It just isn't on par with the Seville, or any other Caddy for that reason, except maybe the Cimmaron. I will say something positive about the I35. I love torque steer. To me it is an awesome experience to slam the throttle, and hold on with both hands, as the car decides to go wherever it damn well feels like going. Anytime I feel like I need some serious torque steer, I jump in the I35.

I wish you luck on whatever you decide to do.
