I'd love to get an old truck. My brother likes his old Chevy's. I was thinking about going and looking at a 79 Dodge D150 with a 318. I'm definately not looking for a show truck by any means. Ideally, something that I could work on myself would be great. Any suggestions? Also, are parts hard to get on some of these?

we had 3 dodge d150s in the fleet in alaska , they were i think 84-86s , all had the 360 and 4wd ....they were cool outside the fact they have the most sloppy steering boxes known to man on those 4wd trucks ....and when loaded with ALOT of weight out back they get even worse ..
but a 2wd d150 with a 318 would be a hoot in that old school work truck way of thinking ...if you want something you can tinker with you cant go wrong with the dodge , super easy to fix ....chevys are ok too ....but avoid the fords , esp any EFI equipped ford trucks , they are very miserable to work on ...

Any Chevy / GMC from the mid 70s till the late 80s with either a 305 or a 350. Parts are a dime a dozen and they run forever. Any junkyard will have 8 of what you're looking for.
