:) Hi All,
I'm new to the forums and posted this question in the N* forum as well. I have a 98 STS with a lower end knock and have found an 02 N* from a Deville. The 02 has coil on plug ignition, can I put my 98 coil pack and harness on it? I have all the sensors etc. from the 98 so swapping that stuff isn't a problem. Any other items I should be concerned with?
Thanks in advance.
Bbobynski is the authority on this but my guess is no. See what he has to say.

Yeah, I kinda think the only engines that will work with your cars computer are the 95-99's.

You do not want to try this swap. The engine was substantially redesigned for the 2000 model year and will not interchange with the prior years. The crank sensors, and the crank sensor location in the block, as well as the reluctor wheel pattern on the crank all changed on the 2000 and later engines and the combination will just NOT play the direct fire ignition system at all. Find a 1999 or earlier engine but the 2000 or later will do you no good....unless you want to spend LOTS of money and LOTS of time trying to make it work.
