HELP! my tranny is jacked (i think) i was driving today and all the sudden my trans seemed to get lazy, it was not engaging. the engine was reving, but the tranny was slipping. so i pulled over to a gas station and pulled the dipstick. there was noting on the stick. so i got 2 qt's of fluid, put one and a half in. just to make it home. it seemed to be doing fine after i got started. but when i stopped (red lights) it didnt down shift. i came home and checked the codes. i came up with Po 40 and PO 47 (current) and PO 91 (history)( which says PRNDL switch problem) also i have Io 22, IO 39, and IO 37 all history. the PO 91 has me wondering, but the other ones seem to be irrelevant.

now that i check the fluid ( in acordance with the owners mannual) it seems that i have over fllled the tranny. I know that a tranny low on fluid will slip. question is does a over filled one cause the tranny to not downshift?

if any one has any ideas to help, please help a guy out. I deploy to Iraq on 17 July. and dont want to leave my car broken while i'm gone. it would suck to come home to rent a car while the caddy is in the shop.

OH YEAH! forgot to add: i checked under the car and it seemed that there was a leak from the tranny pan, i tightened the bolts (not awfully loose though)

Try searching for your codes in archives.

no luck finding anything in the search, the code PO 91 (history) is buggin me though. i went out and fooled around with the car a bit more, in Drive it barley pulls at all, the car moves, but it takes alot of engine power. if I put in 1Sst gear it pulls better, but still seems labored. I hope this is all due to the trans fluid being over filled. I was too busy today to take the time to losen the trans pans to let it out. its weird how the problem seemed to happen so suddenly. i think that if the fluid being low to begin with would be an "all the sudden" prob like it was.

anyone out there familiar with the PO 91 "PRNDL switch problem" code????

Alright, I searched for P091 and PRNDL. Here's what I found.

nandez71,
May be it sounds crazy, but instead of losing pan, I better try to get rid of extra fluid with this rubber thing, you know... cause when transmission is hot enough you can see that oil really high. It will take some time, but still it's not going to be so messy
