ok, I broke it, it's my own fault, but now I need to replace it. Basically it's stuck in the retracted position and won't come out. I lift up the arm rest, take out the two screws holding the arm rest latch on, remove the latch, remove the oblong lego-like piece the latch is screwed down to, remove the trim piece that fits around the cup holder part that comes out and retracts along with the 2 screws at the top holding it in place. The entire cup holder assembly should now come out, but it doesn't. I can lift it up at the top about and inch is all and then it feels like it gets stuck on something. Am I going to have to rip out the gearshift cover plate to get this thing replaced or what? There aren't any more screws/bolts holding it in place as far as I can see, 4 in all taken out along the top where it meets the arm rest. Can anyone help me out here? :hmm:
On a happier note, I removed the 6 disk changer in the arm rest today that has never worked since I bought the car. I dismantled it, cleaned the optics, put it back in and it works now! :D

If you take a screwdriver you can pry the woodgrain surround off, do it carefully! Put it in "1" when removing and installing the woodgrain surround. Then you will need a hex bit to completely remove the cupholder from the mount. I did this last week, mine was stuck in open position. There were quarters blocking the clip to close the cupholder! Hey I made money on the repair about 1.25!!! :hmm: That's a First!! It's pretty easy to remove after you figure it out!

LOL That's great. I'll try it tomorrow when I have time. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the help!

For me it was easy. I'm a computer/Audio/Video repair technician so I take apart computers and car decks all the time. It's REALLY easy. There are 2 bolts that hold the whole assembly into the center console. Lift up the arm rest, use a socket wrench and remove the 2 bolts down in the bottom, pull entire unit up until you feel some tension, you will need to unplug the harness connected to the bottom. Once you have the unit out there are 6 chrome like screws, 3 on either side, that hold the actual changer into the frame of the unit. After that there are 2 black screws holding on the top half on either side, remove those. In the back there is a square cover over the wires, 2 screws hold it on, take it off. You need to pop the plastic sliding cover off by way of 6 clips, 3 on either side. You can now pry the top half off and access the optics. Use a q-tip and distilled water to swab the lens of the laser. Be sure to use the other end to dry and use canned air to blow off to dry. Reassemble and you're good to go! Good luck!
I'll let you all know how the cup holder turns out tomorrow. Just to clearify, the wood piece with the traction button and seat heater buttons just pops up right? It won't mess up the plastic pieces that slide around when you shift gears or anything will it? Also, where do you start to pry it up? Closest to the arm rest? And what about the ash tray, does it need to be removed first?

It worked! Apparently when I jammed it back in against its will I forced a paperclip into the locking mechanism. Have a look at the crap that was in there besides the 4 paperclips, toothpick, cigar, and rusty razor blade. Who knows what the hell the previous owner was thinking! Thanks for the help!

Where da weed smokers at where da where da weed at. Chillin on tha weekend im at the red light, roll a couple blunts up in need to get my mind right!
