Greetings Eric and welcome to the forums!
I live about 60 miles away from you in Wisconsin and its nice to know there are caddy fans nearby. Most people here are really helpful and not arrogant . How rusty is your caddy?

The only real advantages I can think of for a '70 motor is that it was the only year for a 10:1 compression 500ci motor, and I think the only year for the heads without the smog pump holes.
Of course, 10:1 compression requires premium fuel. At 15mpg or so, the difference between premium and regular adds up.
If you're planning to rebuild the engine before putting it in, don't worry too much about the year, you can change the pistons to get whatever compression you want.
