How about a section for general non-Cadillac automotive discussion? These threads generally are created in the lounge, and maybe that's okay.

We have a section that branches off to the other forums, but I think that a lot of us would probably prefer to stay in CadillacOwners.com to discuss other manufacturers and automotive trends.

Just a thought.

Hi Elvis,

I see the value of your
suggestion. It certainly makes
sense ;however, such a section
may result in an unintended
flamefest with U.S. protectionists
(like my Canadian self) using it to
get off by blasting freeloading
Toyopet et al. on a daily basis.
(Accordingly, I'm all for such
a section).

Best Regards,

TomDeville :coolgleam

I also think a new are of such a description would be a good idea, it seems all of you guys are friendly enough on cadillacowners.com, and many of us own other vehicles than cadillacs.

good idea :D

Okay, so you're looking for "Discussion for Other Makes and Models". Correct? I can arrange a section like this.. And as we get enough discussions regarding other makes, we can add Sub Forums for them.. That would be fine..

Can you guys get a few people over here for more thoughts, opinions, suggestions, etc?

this was an idea i passed on to you a week or so ago Sal. Because the auto news is cloggin the lounge imo. But now that elvis recommends it, its a good idea. I see how it is around here :p Everybody loves Elvis :bouncy:

Hey, wait a minute now. :p I think your idea was about a general Automotive News section.. I THINK what Elvis is asking for is a general discussion area for different makes.. Like a spot where we can specifically talk about Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, etc - not necessarily news.. HOWEVER! Both these ideas go hand in hand and if enough people agree there's no (or little) down-side, then we'll go right ahead and make this happen.

How's DAT foh egg on yo FIZZAH?!
Disclaimer: I'm not quite sure why I said that (one-liner just above) - nonetheless, I did. :drinker

I don't think it's worthwhile having a section to talk about other kinds of cars because there are tons of other forums around for other cars anyway. Plus that's what the Cadillac versus section is for. It says Cadillac Versus...
Discuss comparisons between Cadillac and its competitors. Also keep discussions regarding Cadillac competitors in this section.

I kind of like what Brett is talking about but I don't think it's worthwhile having a whole section just for news about other kinds of cars. There are a lot of posts like that in the lounge but they aren't bothering anybody.

I still uphold it being a good idea.... The reason being (and im sure some of you will agree) you're all a friendly bunch of guys and many of us own other cars... it just makes talking about our other cars easier

I agree with brougham I think the lounge is a perfect place to discuss what you think of other marques, etc. Cadillac Vs. is for direct comparison to competitors of Cadillac. I just think it is a good idea to keep the general discussion of other types of cars in the lounge. It certainly doesn't bother me to see a thread come up about some other car I might be interested in discussing.

I'm an idiot like Raymond! I forgot all about this post.

It is a good idea, come to think of it. I must've been on the wagon whenever I came up with it.

I don't think it's necessary, and I never thought anybody had problems with automotive small talk in the lounge!!??

If you take the automotive small talk from the lounge, what's the lounge going to be for??? Threads like "look at my fat cousin's shoes!" Or, "How many Frenchmen does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"

Not necessary....but whatever....

I think it's getting a bit too "specialized" around here, and no one will know where to put things.
