: Stock Airbox Observations

I finally pulled the stock airbox to see what was going on....its ugly. That is one tortured path through which our air needs to travel. Here's what I did...
1. Pulled the box out
2. Cut the rubber inverted-nose snorkel out...I used mini zip ties placed behind the backing washers to stop any rattle, as they were loose.
3. Cut the end of the rubber snorkel and fastened it(the flare, not the nose...I threw that out) to the end of the "dual" pinch-tube intake..looks kinda stock now, still.
4. Put it all back together

Now it appears that there is a straighter shot of air to the box, and it may have added a little more "ram" to the system.

I plan on using some flex tubing to route a real intake pickup from the driver-side of the grill. Summit has some nice pieces that may work well. Once I can get air to the airbox location, I probably have to go LPE intake...and StealthV's intake tube.

I don't think anything has changed, ie. more power or sound, it was just a fun exercise in the garage...and I hate leaving sound-suppression devices on my intakes.

Ve good,
