I have a 1970 472 from a Deville and was planning on doing a mild performance build on it. I was wondering if it would be better to just look for a 500 instead. I wonder if I will miss those extra 28 cubes?

If you're going to pull it down and rebuild it, just spend a little more on the 472, make it a bad ass engine, and call it good. The extra time and money spent on finding and buying a 500 could get you a bigger cam or bigger valves or something which would equalize the two. Unless, of course, you have a quick and easy way to get a 500...which I just happen to have, for cheap, if you're in N. California :)

On a mild build you won't miss the 28ci, that's only 5.6% of the displacement...
