I've always had a "protective" layer of dirt and greese on all my engines Ghost C 07-01-05, 02:15 AM That's what I said!
I thought my engine bay was clean. Stoneage_Caddy 07-01-05, 11:19 AM LOL at one point it was 350 miles per week .....
now ? i might make 17 miles a week (i now work 2 blocks away from my house)
the area around the timing cover is still pretty nasty , got some seepage but no "leak" ...need to fix that Here ya go. This pic shows how I removed that intake resonator. I'll hopefully have a strut tower brace in here pretty soon. try2playJAY 07-03-05, 03:05 AM My Eldo is becoming a serious project. I just began cleaning the engine out of boredom. I plan on dropping at least a 4.6 in there! I'll also be loosing the AC system...damn horsepower theif-HA, J/K (I like the feel of windows and sunroof open......just cruising along).I still have a lot of work to do to get this engine compartment to my picky standards of engine cleanliness!

 Stoneage_Caddy 07-11-05, 05:07 PM OOOOOH i like the emblem on there .....Mind if i copy cat you ? Ghost, I like your color matching! Looks good! I think Illumina did the same thing and in a similar color too.
I wonder if they make a Typhoon intake that would fit the 4.9?? Or an FIPK? Does anyone know, or tried? I bet you looked into that Stoney... I don't think there are any sensors to connect. mtflight 07-11-05, 07:03 PM Voila davesdeville 07-11-05, 08:31 PM good lord stoney, do you ever drive that thing, or do you just eat off of it! I agree, it keeps stuff from rusting.

That's what is under the hood of the 75. I could clean it but it's not like anyone ever sees it really so I don't bother. The ETC is probably worse, I took the silver cover off because it's no longer a "beauty" cover or whatever. Night Wolf 07-12-05, 06:38 AM well, here it is....
these are OLD pictures... IE: 4.9 is NOT detailed and the 425 now has the 14" Edelbrock open element air filter, new hoses and new wires and distrubutor... gosh this is an old pic.., and the engine bay is a little more cleaned up....
so we have a 1993 4.9 V8 104k
1989 3800 V6 128k
1979 425 V8 90k

all my engines run as good as the could, and I would trust any of the 3 cars to go anywhere I want :) I love working on my cars :) Night Wolf 07-12-05, 06:42 AM ya know, I bet it won't work unless you are a member.... ah well, when I get back home I'll get some newer, more updated pictures :)
Well, I'll leave you with this, the 4.9:
This is an updated picture, with the new valve cover.
Now keep in mind, I didn't detail the engine for this picture... I normally do, so it isn't shiney... which it normally is....
When I was detailing the engine, I had girls walk by the open hood, stop, look, and say.....oh my, that is really clean...... so I must be doing something right :)

Your power steering fluid cap is sure different than mine. :hmm:
I don't see any coolant in your resoivoir? :suspense: I drained all the coolent out of it to keep the plastic from discoloring ! :histeric: :drinker I drained all the coolent out of it to keep the plastic from discoloring ! :histeric: :drinker
I don't doubt it. :D
:hide:
I hope you run your heater a couple times a year to keep the HC from plugging up. http://www.smatarese.com/forum/sandy/P6250010.JPG

I also notice a spring above your rad support, for your hood, and I don't think have that. I guess they made a few small changed in those couple years... Ghost C 07-13-05, 02:05 PM Ghost, I like your color matching! Looks good! I think Illumina did the same thing and in a similar color too.

Thanks man. Always like to get props from Cadillac owners - Most of the "dub Cadillac crowd" make fun of me.
I'm going to make an intake for my car out of heat bent PVC, so it will be perfectly smooth. I don't know of anything better than the plenum on there that would fit, so it will be from that forward. I should have mine done sometime soon. All this R&D for 4.9 parts keeps me busy  You don't have a hood spring ? That's odd !
I run the heater in thewinterwhen I run the car.
The A/C isn't run very much. I'd say 2 to 3 times
a year ~ 15 minutes a time. It works great, tho. Here you go, it is kinda dirty since I took the picture in the winter. You don't have a hood spring ? That's odd !

Does it blow well? Our '93's never did and the mechanic said they were just like that:confused: which does not make sense. Even a guy with the same car in the shop had a wimpy a/c system.:rolleyes2
That is pretty cool that your battery has lasted so long. I hope the oil is not original. speedyman_2 07-21-05, 01:57 AM Ok. My '98 STS at 72K About a year ago. No other engine pics at the moment.
