In the July 2005 Car & Driver, theres a small article on a Supercharged 6.0 LS2 powered STS with 505hp & 520flbt... Anyone know why this didnt make it to production? BBOB?

Ya, this has been covered several times already. It was used as a showoff vehicle for several new technologies and is called the "SAE STS Show car". It had things like neon lighted cupholders and other useless gadgets, but why this engine and drivetrain configuration didnt make into the STS-V is absolutely beyond my comprehension. I said in another thread that if this HAD been the STS-V, my current thoughts on it would be a complete 180 of what they are now. Bbob can comment on the real reason, but for some reason I cant shake the feeling it had something to do with not stealing the Z06's spotlight. THAT will be the CAR people will be talking about for years, a complete slam dunk and its not even out yet.

But like everyone keeps telling me... lets wait until the current one has been out before we make up our minds... fine... grr.
