Alas, I have conceded to the fact it's a blown head-gasket! Ugg! I DO want to keep the car, a 2001 Seville since 1) it only has 64,000 miles, 2)is in GREAT condition inside and out (except for the motor), and it rides like a dream! (but you already know that!) After 53 years of hotrods, crappy noisy trucks, I NEED to keep it! Imagine me, a Cadillac guy! who'd-a-thunk! There's a place in bellflower that will pull your motor and stud, rebuild and install your motor for $1899. Seems reasonable. I can ship my car for $310, and still save a grand or more. Looking for some suggestions. I'm in Sacramento/ SF Bay Area.:thepan::thepan:

Let's move this to the Engines; Northstar forum so more owners get a crack at it .......... I'll leave a 2 day redirect.

He did it for you.

Never heard of them.

Stud AND rebuild for less than $2,000? That's cheap.

What studs are they using?

"You can drop your car off with us and we can install our base repair for only $1899. Yes, for only $1899 we not only guarantee the work for 12mos/12,000 mi., but we also guarantee that our work is of the highest quality."

I don"t think that's a rebuild price - just a HG repair.

Even for a Stud and HG repair that is a very good price (as long as you are not their first rodeo).

I'm curious what you ended up doing? Did you use that guy in Bellflower? I'm considering him for a fix on mine as well. I have a 2000 Seville STS with 33K original miles. And a blown head gasket...

Cornelius Chambers. Past customer of mine; and a royal backstabber. I sent him parts -AND- customers -AND- gave him a nice discount.

If you go through their whole website you'll get a good feel for "why" to stay away from them.

The only repair shop in California I would refer to anyone right now would be Marvin K Brown Cadillac in San Diego. Talk to Keith in Service. Straight up guy, honest and knows his stuff.

Quote from the website in question:

90% of our stud system is made from recycled parts.

Recycled parts, copying a patented repair system.
