View Full Version : Air Conditioned Seats? RobertCTS 06-29-05, 08:21 AM The CTS has vents under the two front seats. They're designed for the rear passengers. Our front seats have perforated leather inserts. I'm wondering if the AC air could be deflected to the bottom of the seat? Is composition of the seat material porus enough for the cool air to pass? My brother's Lincoln LS has this feature.
Any ideas?:hmm: jteolis 06-29-05, 09:36 AM Robert, we need to look how the STS seats are plumbed, I believe it has cooled seats. I've had this same idea living in Florida and wondered if we could accomplish this.
I feel the heated seats would not aloow flow throug becaues the heating elements aren't pourous, but??? YEP, I BET AN UPHOLSTERER MIGHT KNOW. odysseus 06-29-05, 11:23 AM The heated seats use electrical heating pads that are flexible. I'm sure cooled seats have air channels in the seat foam to allow ducted air to flow through them. The foam used in seats won't conduct airflow by itself. The seats definitey need air channels designed in (or modified, if you're adventurous). joeyblaze 06-29-05, 05:27 PM do all cts have the air ducts under the front seats i never took notice, i got to check when i get out of work RobertCTS 06-29-05, 06:24 PM do all cts have the air ducts under the front seats i never took notice, I got to check when i get out of work
Don't feel bad Joey. I found them looking for pocket change I dropped. Seems like no way to get cold air to your ass on those hot days. Are we sure the STS has AC seats? If so we gotta see how they do it. joeyblaze 06-29-05, 06:25 PM my brother has an STS, ill have to take a look under the seats when i go home, but i dont recall the seats getting cold when the air is on all tho i neve realy noticed RobertCTS 06-29-05, 06:29 PM my brother has an STS, ill have to take a look under the seats when i go home, but i dont recall the seats getting cold when the air is on all tho i neve realy noticed
Joey,
Does he have the new RWD STS? If so please look!!:yup: OldRoadDawg 06-29-05, 07:24 PM I know the a/c'd seats are one of the options for the Devilles and the Escalades, cuz I've driven both with that feature and I like it. But darned if I know how it works. TCSisOFF 06-29-05, 08:48 PM Well, its 110 right now outside and I wish I had air conditioned seats.
I'm sure there is a way to redirect the air, but then you have to run your floor vents at least half power to feel it and your main vents are gonna be close to useless... at least in the heat where I am.
I'm all for being a CTS guinea pig, but not when it comes to my AC, ha! jteolis 06-29-05, 11:21 PM STS w/ Luxury performance package has "Ventalated Seats" M STaR 013 06-29-05, 11:37 PM i think the cooled seats on the STS are fans built in on the bottom and back and they suck the heat away from your body. but that would be cool if it can be done for the CTS. good luck  The seats in the last Deville I drove (loaner from the dealer) actually forced cool air through the vents on the seat... And they work rather quick. If I recall correctly the seats looked the same as the CTSs but a bit bigger. That one also had cooled and heated steering wheel which I thought was rather nifty! I thought the XLR had cooled seats? Or is it a different concept from what we're aiming to do with the vents. RobertCTS 06-30-05, 03:10 PM I thought the XLR had cooled seats? It looks like adapting our seats from the under seat vents is out of the question. I'd like to know what the STS or other Caddys are using. We here talk about air circulation and air conditioning.. I'm hoping you can swap out some parts or order them. we need to know more. I bet Dubbed Stealth could look over a STS for us. Maybe I'll send him a PM. joeyblaze 06-30-05, 04:18 PM Rob
yeah my bro has the RWD V8 STS, i didnt get the chance to look last night he was out for work all day/night, but ill ask him slash look..... i think they are just ventalated tho.. so they can breath casue i dont remmeber and cold air getting shot up my butt lol RobertCTS 06-30-05, 04:43 PM Rob

Just went to www.cadillac.com (http://www.cadillac.com). The STS has ventilated seats, not A/C seats. I wonder what that's like? Forced air up the wazoo?:p joeyblaze 06-30-05, 04:45 PM Just went to www.cadillac.com. The STS has ventilated seats, not A/C seats. I wonder what that's like? Forced air up the wazoo?
i think that just means the leather has small air holes, as same does our CTS what does say on caddy.com for the CTS seats? RobertCTS 06-30-05, 04:52 PM Damn, the STS has a heated steering wheel! My wife would love that!:yup: Our CTS seats are ventilated, it makes a huge difference is dissipating heat. I tried scouring google and what not for any kind of custom cooled seats and all I could find are cooling seat covers... |
