I think the front-end looks alot nicer w/o a License Plate assembly. I'm contemplating taking the whole thing (Base) off.

Has any Member done this too your CTS??. If so, how easy/difficult a job is it??? My front l/p base seems to be secured with thin hollow alluminum bolts/anchors that split in the back holding the Base onto the bumper???

I left the front plate off of my 99 Corvette for a few months, because it looked better with the body colored filler panel there instead of the plate and frame. I was always worried about getting pulled over for it though. I finally decided I'd just be more comfortable with it on there, and slapped it on.

It didn't look quite as nice, but I wasn't having to worry every time I passed a police car either.

They're required here in VA. They are attached with a large riv-nut type arrangement. My V bumper didn't have one, so I had to reluctantly have one installed after paint. They simply drilled holes and screwed it on. I agree that it looks better without, but the DMV would argue with me on the priority of looks over the law.:(

Not needed down here in Florida. If you remove it you will be left with ugly holes to fill in your bumper...

My CTS came with ugly holes in the front bumper. Is it easy to fill the holes or does someone have an unneeded front plate frame they want to part with?

Thanks!

That sucks!! I think you could find some small rubber caps from a hardware store and just paint them. I have my front bracket on with a CAL plate to support my school and a tinted and domed-shaped licence plate cover.

They're under $9 from GMPartsDirect. Mine didn't come with screws, though.

No front plate in Florida, car looks so much better without it.

Any tips on how and which tools to use for a smooth, problem free removal of the Base.??

BTW, thanks to all for your comments and participation !!
