View Full Version : Raped a Boxster AznPrydeRegalRyde 06-27-05, 08:25 PM Guys, another surprise I found.
Met a boxster at lunch today on the highway. He was coming up fast behind, and tried to use the no-no lane to pass. So I gunned it and left him in the dust, from 70 pulled 4 cars by 90 and shut it down as he pulled in behind. I don't like people weaving in and out of traffic, even if there was lots of space.
He kept giving me the finger above the glass, and each time he did this I tapped the brakes. ;) What was that Mr. Porsche owner? You got smoked by a 7000 lb diesel pickup from FORD? hahahaha RobertCTS 06-27-05, 08:33 PM Guys, another surprise I found.

You pulled away from a Porsche Boxter at freeway speeds. Read sceptical. :hmm:Maybe he didn't know you were racin' Having owned a 2001 Boxster S, I can assure you, that your story just simply wouldn't happen. It's not even worth discussing. wait4me6920 06-27-05, 08:44 PM Owning a Boxster, let me assure you that IF this happened, the only reason this guy pulled in behind you is because he had no desire to play silly games... what does your truck have?? what are the mods?? pjohnesq 06-27-05, 09:02 PM I'm not gonna be that quick to be skeptical of Azn's kill...I have two friends who each own a Boxster...and a Boxster S...they both complain how slow they are..I remember one of them complaining that he got smoked by a BMW X5...is the Boxster even pushing 250 horses? The Boxster S probably not even breaking 300hp.... Owning a Boxster, let me assure you that IF this happened, the only reason this guy pulled in behind you is because he had no desire to play silly games...
You had a very polite way of expressing my thoughts... AznPrydeRegalRyde 06-27-05, 10:53 PM You skeptic's are priceless :P My truck?
2004 Ford F250 King Ranch PSD
GT47 Garrett Turbo upgrade
Edge programmer / monitor
AFE intake system + ram-air hood
Banks Intercooler upgrade / custom ram-air inlet w/ elbow
Banks 3.5" turbo elbow, MBRP 4"DP, MBRP 5"cat-back duals/6" tips,
forged pistons, custom propane injection, new injectors (no idea of their specs)
I ran a 12.8 before pistons, injectors, and the IC upgrade. It has since been also been tuned by a professional, besides the Edge programmer, along with the other new stuff. I've also got a few things planned for this summer, and will hopefully see 11's.
I'm looking at well over 1000 lbs-ft rwhp right now. There are loads of these trucks going around, guys. Anyone in Texas or California should agree. Maybe I'm more unique in the NW. But diesel trucks can easily be made to be fast in a straight line. Hate all ya want ;)
To cvelo and wait4me6920. How about I race each of you for pink slips? After were done racing, you can both suck my 6" tailpipes at the same time :D while I drive both of your CTS's or Boxster's home.
By the way, guys, I'm not hating on Porsches. They actually are my favorite car company. What I don't like are the rustang-like attitudes their owners get on with, thinking that the Boxster is actually fast. My pop's had a 2000 turbo with some small mods, just the usual bolt on's, and it was a blast to drive.
Cheers :drinker AznPrydeRegalRyde 06-27-05, 10:59 PM Thanks PJ, at least someone believed :) You were right. Even the newese Boxster S is only pushing 280 hp. The 2001 someone here owned only had 255. Nothing worth writing home about, considering they cost and weigh basically the same as a vette.
Cvelo, your 2001 stock at best pulled a very high 13. Most magazines couldn't even get to the 13's. Say 14.0. What else pulls a 14 flat?

Take that Boxster against any of these cars in a straight line, and it's a drivers race. I'm not gonna be that quick to be skeptical of Azn's kill...I have two friends who each own a Boxster...and a Boxster S...they both complain how slow they are..I remember one of them complaining that he got smoked by a BMW X5...is the Boxster even pushing 250 horses? The Boxster S probably not even breaking 300hp....
I didn't really doubt it for a second. Not bashing on Boxster's in any way, but I don't know if you guys have heard of a dude named Parish with a heinously fast Silverado. It's becoming increasingly popular to a certain group to have quick trucks in a straight line. Parry's Silverado throws out 700+rwhp and over 1000 ft.-lb rwtq, runs 10's all day on stock tires. After seeing that and a few other lightning fast pickups, I don't even try to talk smack to a guy who claims he has a quick truck. wait4me6920 06-27-05, 11:20 PM I stand by the "silly games" comment - not smart on public highways irrespective of what ur driving...
As for calling that thing a "Ford pickup"? Kinda like calling a NASCAR Ford a "Taurus"...
Ringer, pure & simple - I have no doubt that such a truck is fast, but... How does she do on a road course with plenty of switchbacks and short straights? I stand by the "silly games" comment - not smart on public highways irrespective of what ur driving...

I don't think he meant to initiate anything if the Boxster came up on him...but that's just what I perceive.
And different cars are made for different things. Obviously a Diesel hog such as his Ford doesn't belong on a tight circuit, we have to be realistic here. That's almost like asking a Miata on its original motor if he can break 10's on the quarter mile. The silly games comment is legitmate. I'll take that. But there was some room up ahead in our lanes. But yeah, I know, immature, but sometimes it still bites, that speed bug, ya know?
I never initially modded it for speed. I needed a rig to haul, and diesel was the choice. Then I did 'mileage' mods, exhuast, cai, chip, and propane injection. That turned in a low 13 sec. truck. I was amazed, and I gained something like 8 or 9 mpg in the city. After that, it was just upgrading the stock turbo, and doing all the neccassary work. This summer, lower, 20's, and a big brake kit. Priority ;)
As for handling? Well, I think I could take a loaded UPS van...
It's strictly a work rig that I take to the track. I'm still getting better mileage then stock, by the way. AznPrydeRegalRyde 06-28-05, 12:41 AM I don't think he meant to initiate anything if the Boxster came up on him...but that's just what I perceive.

I'll buy that... :D RobertCTS 06-28-05, 06:28 AM I had to go back and re-read. The thought since this is a Caddy CTS forum beat aBoxter with your CTS. Here is was a noisey, smoke belching, granny low driven pick-up truck:eek: This belongs over in the Honda-Ricer thread or a Truck forum.
What have you raced laterly with you CTS?:) Thats the reason I didnt even respond. Who cares about a Ford pickup racing an entry level Porsche ? I don't even have that car any more, and when the lease expired, I wasnt all that sad. Let's talk about a CTS beating whatever. nice truck~ i knew something was up... thatz why i asked what he had.. those diesel trucks are monsters if itz modded properly. Why not race this little 3.2 (1100HP) CTS racer? AznPrydeRegalRyde 06-28-05, 04:39 PM i definitely would race that! Hell, I'll race anything from a Kia Amante to a Carrera GT. If ya love racing, not winning, you'll race anything.
Maybe if Caddy made the CTS a little faster, I'd actually have some decent kills. Like said before, if it had 300 horse, I wouldn't be telling you about the truck... Franchise2005 06-28-05, 04:58 PM Nice kill AZN i would love to see the look on his face when your trucvj took off and left him in the rear view http://cadillacforums.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif Franchise2005 06-28-05, 05:02 PM Im counting on GM that they wont screw this one up and have the news CTS come out in 07 and not push it back and also give it 300hp because if they do that my 05 is getting traded in the day the go on sale. AznPrydeRegalRyde 06-28-05, 11:25 PM Yup, same here! If it get's 300 hp, I'll have it for sure! Otherwise, considering the problems this car has had, I'll probably go to BMW.
I really wanna buy american, but I'm not the type of person who likes to defend what he purchased. I should never have to defend how close in price the CTS is to a 3 series. i had $40g to spent; i would get the BMW or Infiniti.. pjohnesq 06-29-05, 01:20 AM Yup, same here! Yeah but Fellas, which 3 Series tho???...325????....compare the CTS 3.6 to a 330 ci and you are still getting more bang for the buck...CTS hands down! I looked at 3 series also before the CTS and I think it was a wiser decision to go with the CTS..now if we're talking M3...well that's V talk and V money right there... No matter how nice the car I won't be associated with such people. Besides, the Caddys are Kooler. American-style, I like that.
Besides, I believe in employing my fellow countrymen, even if the Caddys weren't as good. Sometimes having social and political ideals has a price. And if the price is extra repairs I can handle that easily enough.
Some people's priciples can be bought for less though. Beemers are for guys who actually ask for a "grande" coffee at Starbucks instead of a "medium".

I agree. I've driven BMW's and test driven Infiniti's and even though they may be more refined to some, it's basically "been there, done that"...if I had gotten one, nothing would set me apart from the next snobby rich guy. It's a generalization, I know, but with Cadillac we're starting something new, something good, and it feels nice to be part of something unique. RobertCTS 06-29-05, 06:33 AM I agree. Krank's got my vote.:yup:  davesdeville 06-29-05, 07:26 AM You CTS guys don't know about the kill forum do you? Or any of the other ones :p

That's what ricers always tell me if they lose to the ETC. It's an excuse for not being able to hang in a straight line, where the race was. I don't go around telling Miatas at the autocross I'd beat them in a straight line. luvmyVluvmyV 07-06-05, 05:47 AM What the ????
I, too, thought it was a CTS v. a Boxster.
There's nothing better than leaving some guy in a hoped-up, loud exhaust, pickup truck in the dust.
I'm sure your truck's fast on a level, straight road, but the minute you go into the curves with a Boxster, you're dead. Plus, it could hold 140mph for hours and not melt down.
If you have the 3.6 in your CTS, you can add another 130hp by supercharging it. (half of what you've already spent on lift kits, etc.) joeyblaze 07-06-05, 11:01 AM you guys are so gay, just casue some one says they beat a boxer your quick to jump down and call BS, holly shit did u guys read what that pick up has, its a beast, also just casue somehting is porche does mean it has to be fast, boxers are trash, boxer s are fast trash, i stomped a few in my GTP back in teh day TCSisOFF 07-06-05, 03:42 PM Last I checked, this was a CTS forum, not a Ford Kill Story forum. It's actually not overly loud in the usual sense. It sounds more like a train going by then a loud muscle car.
It's a 3.6 in my CTS, yup. There isn't a sc'er for it yet, so I'd have to go the custom route. I prefer naturally aspirated anyhow, so I'm waiting for the 3.8L or the stroker kit. I'd like a low 13 sec. V6 CTS all-motor. Anyhow, when I bought everything for the truck, I had a modded Buick Regal and a hi-12 sec. Volvo S60R. I haven't had a chance to mod the CTS yet. By the way, my truck is actually lowered about 4". :) AznPrydeRegalRyde 07-06-05, 05:52 PM you guys are so gay, just casue some one says they beat a boxer your quick to jump down and call BS, holly shit did u guys read what that pick up has, its a beast, also just casue somehting is porche does mean it has to be fast, boxers are trash, boxer s are fast trash, i stomped a few in my GTP back in teh day
I agree, I hate boxsters, always have. Oh well!
What kinda times did your GTP pull? I had a Regal LS, lightly modded. But I was trying to decide between a turbo/IC and a stroker kit with a low boosted m62. But then I got rid of it. What did you have done?
By the way, isn't it great to go from a w-body to a CTS? :) Obviously you miss more then I do, but dude, you gotta love this CTS :) AznPrydeRegalRyde 07-06-05, 05:54 PM Last I checked, this was a CTS forum, not a Ford Kill Story forum.
Yes, true...But the only CTS that's fast is the V, which I don't have. I get way more kills in my truck. Like I said before, I won't post any kills anymore. But I sure would love GM to put something out to compete against the Legacy GT's and the Acura TL's! And I've taken a couple new TL's too! But we all know that's because the TL's driver couldn't drive.... Beemers are for guys who actually ask for a "grande" coffee at Starbucks instead of a "medium".

Stupidity, to say the least. Maybe, someone likes the car, the styling, the interior, etc. Maybe that same someone thinks Starbucks coffee sucks, and prefers Dunkin Donuts. And maybe, that same someone owns a CTS, and loves it. I happened to drive a CL55 AMG over the weekend and without any hesititation, I can say it is the finest car I have ever driven. However, I cannot afford one. I can afford a CTS, so I drive one. My BMW isn't a status thing, its a practical thing. Both my wife and I commute to work, and we happen to like that car. If I remember correctly, you are an audiophile, tom. Let me ask you, what type of assumption would you make about a guy looking to buy halcro amps and pre-amp, wisdom speakers and a meitner cd player ? would you be associated with that type of person ? Probably not, which, for my sake is a good thing. nukeduster 07-06-05, 07:52 PM boxsters are slow. boxster s's arent much better.. they are slow compared to what they are sold as being. they feel cheap. i test drove one to buy one, laughed at the ammount of wind noise in it, and left. couldnt even keep up a conversation with someone next to me at 50mph from wind noise. purpose built sports car? then make it faster. til then, its just an expensive plasticy cheaply made trophy wife car. want a real porsche experience? buy a 911. | |
