Need some ideas from you guys.
I've got this "noise" now coming from the rear that I notice as I'm braking and almost at a stop. It's not a continuous sound but is a "uuuh....uuuuh....uuuh" sound with short time in between successive noises . It sounds like brakes/springs/?...anyone else experience this. It's an '05 CTS with about 2500 mile on it.....pissing me off
Thanks in advance
You got me...
Is the frequency of successive sounds dependent on vehicle speed? It could be something hitting the wheel. Look for dirt/debris build up around the rotors and pads. You could always try getting a power washer and spray it in between the pads and rotor and see if it clears out anything that's stuck in there. It could also be possible that something is sticking on the inside of the wheels and hitting the caliper as the wheels spins.

My 05 did exactly the same thing at about the same mileage. Mine was a pulsing sound, though, almost as though the rotors needed to be ground. The interval of "thumping" slowed down as I came to a stop. Took it to the dealer, who said that it was probably brake material seating and exacerbated by recent rains. It stopped soon after and no problems since.

Maybe some trash in the calipers would be my guess. Can you isolate it to right or left side?

JKH's description sounds like mine...a pulsing, not really a grinding sound, but it's as if I can somewhat feel it through the brake pedal. Not really from one side or other, but from the rear in general. I only notice it when braking and coming to a stop...very slow speed just as the car is stopping is when I hear/feel it.
Haven't had any rain recently and it's not going away.
The first time I noticed it was coming down my steep driveway(going forward as I back into the garage) and I was braking, going very slowly and I heard the "pulsing"....now I notice it everytime I'm coming to a stop with the speed being very low....basically whenever I'm going very slowly with the brakes.
I was pretty sure what's happening with yours was the same as with mine. The odd think is, that it just stopped happening gradually over a period of a week or two. What you need to do is make an appointment with the dealer, and as the date draws near, it will stop. Then cancel the appointment. Works everytime for me.:)

So, what did they tell you?

Turned out that two of the hub studs were essentially "snapped". Cadillac found nothing wrong with the differential etc. but did notice that two of the drivers rear lug nuts on the wheel appeared to be loose, so they sent me back to the tire place that I got the rims(Chrome Expressions) at and when I showed them the "loose" lug nuts and they touched them with a wrench they basically fell off.
So, the noise I was hearing was a result of this. Came back home and got my stock wheels, they replaced all the studs on that hub and now my OEM wheels are back on.
When I spoke with the tire place this morning, they said that the spacing etc. all appears to be correct on that particular wheel?
So, either I'm going to be getting that one rim replaced or may go with another set of wheels altogether?
Scary stuff, huh.
