There is one on the driver's side. In my case, however, there is none. My "V" was broken into the other day by someone removing the driver's side lock and messing up the door somewhat by using whatever tool they used. The PA State Police are investigating as we speak - they have surveillance video taken at the time it occurred (11:30 AM, bright, sunny day across from my place of employment.) The good thing is they didn't get the car or trash the interior. Takes a lot of balls, though.

You are right. I let someone go and get something from my car and they came back saying they can't get in. The item was in the back seat on pass side. I took her word there were no key holes but I should have known better. Still suprising only one on the driver door, nothing for trunk but who needs it.

Here's an idea that we are probably all aware of, but a little reminder may help avoid some problems in the future.

As we've all become accustomed to using the Key FOB on a frequent and daily basis and, since there is only one Keyed Entry into the vehicle, when was the last time you actually inserted said key and turned it a few times in both directions?

It's probably a good idea to do that on occasions just to move the accumulating dirt and dust around so that when your battery voltage is so low, the door actuators don't work, you won't do further damage trying to get into it to open the hood to jump the vehicle.

Of course, there is always Cadillac Roadside Assistance if you're still in warranty or AAA and others if not.

I do the key thing when I'm cleaning the vehicle, say maybe once every 3 to 5 weeks. It does seem like a strange thing to be doing though.

Two girls tried breaking into my friend's '89 Toyota Camry with a flathead screwdriver, at 12 noon, while the car was on his driveway and there was a contractor walking in and out of his house, while a few other people were passing by walking their dogs and such. I read your story and was kind of shocked that someone would do that in broad daylight but then I remembered this one.

i wonder what percentage of new vehicles are sold with the keyless entry remote? or as my wife likes to call it - the "clicker jigger"
