I am changing the spark plugs and plug boots on my '01 Deville Base. I have a few questions:

Which end do I put the contact spring into?
When I put he contact spring in, do I need to push it through the narrow part of the boot or will it push through on its own?
Do I need to use dielectric grease on the spring ends?

I haven't been able to find much info concerning this and this is the first time I have been exposed to coil packs and spark plug boots.

Thanks Sub. Should I use some kind of lubricant like dielectric grease or silicone spray?

Most new boots already have a dab of dielectric in the lower tips. A judicious smear in the upper 1/4", where the coil cassette tower sticks in, would hurt nothing.

If you found one or more plugs with some oil on the metal shell or insulator, that's pretty normal - the O-ring seals in the cam cover wells weep over time. Not a problem.
